    Default Deadwood

Anyone else watched this series? Loved it. It was first broadcast as three series from 2004 to 2006 before being prematurely (IMHO) canceled by HBO. Very highly rated at 9.3/10 (8,375 votes) on IMDB, but I guess most of the votes are from the fans of the series.

It is set in the lawless gold prospecting camp of Deadwood in the late 1800's. The language is crude, the word "f**k" and its derivatives are used 2,980 times throughout the 3 series, nothing is PC "God rest the souls of that poor family... and pussy's half price for the next 15 minutes" and when violent it is extremely violent. It shows life as it was warts and all (well within the limits of TV entertainment) and extremely watchable. It's not your sanitised Hollywood Western.

Each episode is of a single day in Deadwood.

Loved it! Bought the boxed set of DVD's,only problem was that I had to have subtitles on all the time because I couldn't believe what my ears were hearing.

    Great show!

There was talk about it, but latest news is that it is very doubtful it will happen.

All the sets have been torn down now.

PS started this thread after seeing "Al Swearengen" as "Coach" in Death Race (2008) and his mannerisms are quite similar, language is cleaner though.

Jane Cannary, better known as Calamity Jane although in the Deadwood series this is only mentioned in passing once.
