    Default Headrest removable

Hi,last weekend I bought 2 new seatcovers for my 2004 VZ Commodore.
The new covers have 2 holes for the head rest, but I cannot remove it.
I push the button on the side,it goes up 2 notches and that's it.
Can they be removed? The old cover has a slot instead the 2 holes.
    Thank you in advance.

If you keep the button pressed down whilst lifting the headrests, they should come completely off.

Not sure on the VZ, but some models have a pin hole on the opposite side of the release button.

There may also be a pin hole on both posts.

You need to insert a pin/paperclip etc into the little hole. It's an additional safety release.

You may still need to be pressing the release button at the same time.

My headrests are always tight too, go up two notches and then that's it. I use lateral force in all directions (like you are trying rotate it) while I am pulling and then it suddenly slips off.
I have Nissan and no pins though.

I found the same problem in my triton. It was so tight that in the end I used a pipe cutter and cut it off.

It then came out with some struggle. There seemed to be some sort of gum on it which I took to be some form of lubricant, but ended up being a glue.

In my case I wanted it out as I was putting in DVD head rests so i wasn't worried. How to get them out otherwise have no idea, maybe dribble some solvent down the stems to dissolve the sticky crap

but be gentle in what you use so that it doesn't eat the plastic

I read in an article recently that claimed the shafts on those adjustable Headrests were made to be used to break the window glass in cars after an accident.
I wondered at the accuracy of this story as some cars the headrests are fixed (tombstone) and other like the ones mentioned earlier dont seem to be withdrawable.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
