    Default Aaaargh!

Bloody Firefox has just "upgraded" to "Quantum". So, what does it do? Disables all of my extensions and makes them all "Legacy" which means they won't work in the new version!!!!! Now, instead of when I click on a link I open a new tab, I've got to Ctrl Click, or Middle click and no amount of coaxing will convince it otherwise! Speed dial (of which I have about 80 buttons configured) also no longer works! I found a new version, but I then had to manually re-configure every dial. The saved password button which gives me one click entry into here no longer works so now I've got to remember where the login fields are, and click in there.... Tab Mix Plus was my favourite customising tool and that is now Legacy!!!!

Might have to look at Opera again.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

    +1 for ESR version....

Yeah, I know about ESR. just didn't want to have to stuff around! Bashing your head against a wall feels great when you stop!

Just did it to me as well. Had to reconfigure it to find my bookmarks & get a menu item for it on the toolbar.

So far it appears to be a downgrade, time will tell.

Yeah I wish they'd just leave it the hell alone, I'm sure they do half this crap just to say they've done something.

Like why the flamin' hell would you move the Home button over to the other side??? I couldn't count how many times I've had to go looking for such a simple thing as opening my home page!

    Not bloody happy Jan!

I even have Firefox version 21 for things I can't do (or I want to avoid websites from doing) with newer versions.

Forget Opera, for mission critical stuff I use Vivaldi which I always keep up to date with no issues.

I find it essential these days to spread my internet activity over different browsers.

I have noticed a slowdown since loading the new Firefox. I decided to try Opera which is now no different to FF. May have to give (spit) M$ Edge a try. I HATE having to use middle click or right click to open a link in another tab. NOTHING will convince FF or Opera to let me use Left click to automatically open in new tab. TabMix Plus had so many useful tools that may not be able to be ported to the new FF and it has been my goto add on from day one.

Logitech devices allow you to allocate a keystroke sequence for mouse buttons for specific applications...maybe this is an option? Other hardware would probably be similar.

I'm aware of this, just not about to go out and purchase a new device to try it out. After stuffing around I've installed FF 52.5.0 ESR which, at least, works as it should. Opera and Edge both were no better. In fact, Opera and Quantum looked and performed identically, even customisations were almost identical. To the point that one of them had better find a juicy rabbit to pull out of their hat, or one of them will rapidly lose market share. Why buy a Ford when Holden offer exactly the same car? Or vice versa!

Im a chrome user m i have Firefox around for web development purposes , i must say after it updated it is allot faster and the developer tools look good. I was thinking of switching over , now i read all these issues with with extensions and comparability with new updates , cant be that bad ? chrome has its pitfalls too.

If you didn't use the old version regularly you probably won't notice how much the new version sucks.

I still haven't found replacements for all my "legacy" add-ons.
