    Default Ben McCormack Sentenced

    I didn't think he'd get jailed.
He seems to be copping a bit from the public.

And for those who remember Ben Batterham...
    He's in court on 13th.

    Is that all??? $1000 fine
    WTF......
Is this Australia promoting itself as the Kiddie Porn capital to the world??

You get a $750 fine (or has it gone up) for driving an unregistered car
You get a $1350 fine for having a radar detector in NSW and 9 points (which has probably also gone up)

I am NOT defending his behaviour in any way or fashion, however it is a realistic penalty because :

He did not commit an actual physcial sexual offence against a child
He did not have any child pornograhy in his possession, nor did he send any to anyone

In regards to the offense on which he was charged, if he had of just said it to the person instead of typing it and sending it via the internet, he would not have been charged as it isnt a chargeable offence.
He also attempted to seek treatment for sexual urges in regards to children prior to the offence, ie, he made some effort.

Its a realistic penalty, and add to that he has lost his career and will never be reemployed and has attempted suicide.

Not when parents are skyping their own children being abused for $5 in Asia.

It's a difficult decision for a judge to make. The mitigating circumstances (i.e. loss of career, voluntary submission to psychiatric help, etc) do seem to be be quite reasonable. However, has a precedent been set, the next blok that gets done might claim that, "McCormack got off lightly, so should I."
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Its as bizarre as it gets with him hounding Hughes thats for sure.

But penalty aside, its good that he has been dealt with before it led to physical offending.

Robert Hughes laughing his head off. I can still image this. Pity he didn't get jail because Robert would be waiting for him. His reporting has created other issue and he didn't care whose life he trod on. I hope he stays unemployable and broke.

He won't be broke.....welfare will look after him. All sorts of assistance will be forthcoming.....

    Who said he hasn't?
I guess they would have come forward by now.

Someone (genuine or not) probably would have if there was any substantial money to be had.
