Santa was nice to me this year and read my wish list........
I got a google home.
What an interesting piece of technology. I can really see it dominating “must have” devices in the future!!!!!
Very clever but still in its infancy. It will grow and get much better in what it can do.
For a bit of fun,
I said “ goggle home, start a count down timer for 60 minutes then blow up the world”
It complied.
You lot are damn lucky that I then cancelled the countdown to armagetton!!!!!!!!!
Jokes aside.
I am very impressed.

Look Here -> |
What else can it do?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
Play music using voic commands.
Play videos on a chrome cast equiped tv.
Build shopping lists which appear on your phone
Internet searches
Bark like a dog to annoy my dog
With a suitable smart home. Will control house hold items. Lights. Air conditioners. Etc
All via normal speech
You just ask it.
“Hey google. What’s the temperature in Moscow”. It just tells you.
I’m impressed.

Just need to train it now to make coffee
What's armagetton?
Armageddon, the End of the WORLD !!!
But it appears despite Porkops enthusiastic review, it either has a lousy spell checker or can still suffer from Typo's.
As I read this I was reminded of some Movies of the 50's that as part of the story line, featured houses of the future with this features and now it seems, it is happening................One with Red Skelton comes to mind with the house on a turntable to follow the Sun, doors and windows all remotely operated along with the lighting, heating and cooling...
But in the film of course, gremlins crept in and total chaos was the order of the Day.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
Armageddon is the the 'final battle' between so-called good and evil, at a spot in Israel called Tel Megiddo.
A fairy story evangelist Christians wholeheartedly believe in, and feel that Trump 'declaring' Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel, to be a positive step towards this outcome.

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

I think the (Christian) theory is that no-one will be left alive. The second-coming of Jesus Christ will herald the "end times" where Jesus and Satan will end up duking it out in Israel, causing the end of humanity and God's final judgement of who gets in the nice-people's club, and who burns in hell for all eternity.
The sad thing is, a big chunk of Americans believe this will literally come true in the near future.
Sorry for dragging your thread off-topic porkop. I'll stop now.
Gordon, you dont type into it you speak. I may not spell correctly but rest assured I can pronounce correctly.
However, the Google home seems to be able to recognize a wide range differing speech. It will react to voice commands from myself, my kids and my wife, all tested so far.

Porkop, it was only meant as a Joke that even though you have the 'latest and greatest', there seemed to be an error.
Fix it and World Domination should soon follow..................

Nice, so Big Bother now hears (and maybe sometime will see) everything going on in your home.
All up for grabs for those pesty scammers or worse
Update: A deletion of features that work well and ain't broke but are deemed outdated in order to add things that are up to date and broken.
Compatibility: A word soon to be deleted from our dictionaries as it is outdated.
Humans: Entities that are not only outdated but broken... AI-self-learning-update-error...terminate...terminate...
I laughed so much at this. Now I want one, just for that.Bark like a dog to annoy my dog.
Gordon;
Old son, don't go to far with spell check and typos.
Your repeated use of the word "devise to describe a piece of equipment, rather than device would indicate that you may not recognise the difference.
A person would devise a device so others may use it.

And once again I'm having a flashback of this...
OK... 5 hours of google home talking to google home.
At first I thought.... "KILL ME NOW", but then I realised I probably should say that out too loud.
This is like a Turing test on weed!
Skynet has been trying to kill me for years. It obviously hasn't been able to send something as complex as a terminator back in time. Instead, it sends commands back through time (much simpler with tachyons) to instruct the machines of today to try and kill me.
I think skynet and my GPS have been having a romantic cyber-affair. That bitch is still trying to get me to drive to Tasmania.
She tried to get me to take the harbour tunnel the other day, while I was on the Bradfield hwy.
"Oh, you're a funny bitch aren't you!"
So I have been thinking about ways to bring skynet down via google.
The first is not to have two Google Home's talking, but rather three of them. That will really mess shit up.
Have one quote random verses from the Koran and Bible.
Another thought was to put a translator between them. At first I thought Japanese to English, taking advantage of what gets lost in translation.
Then I thought the Engrish translator might be more fun, before I decided the Yoda translator would be shits and giggles all the way.
I have however been thinking about how google home processes speech. I don't know a lot about it, but I'm guessing it is done on board and not farmed off to a big google server. Something like a "Speech to Hypertext GET" translator, but the hypertext request is send to a google server for a text response which is then TTS (text to peech) done on the google home unit.
I'm curious to see if Google home will respond to morse code, or RTTY or some other strange stuff like infrasound, ultrasound, watermarking, voice inversion.
Make google home listen to a shortwave Numbers station. Though I wonder how long before somebody is creative and puts one on air like on a ham radio repeater or simplex channel. It might actually be quite useful.
Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.
