    Default Internet and wireless adaptors

Hi Guys Ive always downloaded torrents for old games, anyway they always warn about vpns and suggest using proxies and i always did that not really understanding why just knowing that it should be done. I got a new laptop recently and i guess you can call it was being lazy and skipped the whole vpn thing. Now im paranoid because it seems im having alot of issues on the internet alof a sudden, and even so with my network adaptor on my pc and the modem itself. What can a person do to diagnose and start finding the problem to this?

First of all it is almost impossible to give you suggestions on the troubleshooting steps from the information you provided. There could be hundreds and hundreds of different scenarios causing you the grief.
What I suggest you do is:
    1. Try to describe your home network setup - Which modem you have, how you PC is connected, what else do you have connected to your modem/router - try to provide your devices model names.
    2. If you have a lot of problems, try to capture and describe what problems you have - one by one and under what circumstance your network misbehaves. What did you do when the problem happened?

That would be a good starting point for self diagnosing problems.
If you want to have a quick resolution you always can engage with a local network/PC guru (home visit might be required) who should be able to diagnose and suggest the fix.

I’d be a bit more concerned with running software (yes games are software) for torrent sites!!!!!!!!!!

if it seems a speed issue a simple test would be to ran a network cable from modem to laptop & do a speed test
    then again test the wireless,
install & run this, maybe you got the pox

Phil is correct, MBAM is the first thing you should run. What security are you running? What OS are you running? Too many variables to give us an idea.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
