I cannot fault Hyundai. My I45 started rattling and, given that it was a second hand car that was about 12mths out of warranty, I parked it up until I cound save the cash for a repair. Took it into a Hyundai dealership that my son had worked with so I knew they'd not screw me over. I get a phone call next day telling me that a new engine had been ordered and it was being replaced under warranty. I was not going to argue. When I pick it up, I find out that the vehicle was the subject of a product recall that I'd not been notified of. The recall was issued two months after the engine broke. No questions asked, job done. I am very happy, I've got a brand new engine and the car is running better than ever.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Unfortunately it is still a no go - it seems there is a TIM module as well as some programming enabling missing ... calling the original installer on Monday to fix. Thanks vnboost and all with their input here.

I will let you know who this gets resolved
Gave the installer a call today, he confirmed he had not tested after he installed, he also said "it should be working" ... hey well it is not!!!. He also confirmed correct cabling and module was installed and it was programmed up, ...so vnboost's and other feedback here is correct.

We both agreed simply speaking even if there is a trailer pinout issue an easy check is to check for voltage with a voltmeter on the trailer pins (while indicator on etc) with a ground reference direct to negative on the battery - did that today and there is zippo zero on any pins at any time

Good thing is that the installer is warranting his work I just need to get the car to him... hopefully in a couple of weeks time

Yep I did that, what a waste of time, in approaching the guy at the service counter with a "I need help" way, the old fart gave me a weird look like as if it was not his problem or why am I asking and why am I there ! ... he spoke as if it was like "what do you want me to do about it"

When I indicated that I believed programming was likely involved he insisted that was not the case ... he asked if original GMH parts were used (which I have done) ... at that point I decided to walk out, the no care attitude of the "he knew everything" of which he did not, had pissed off by that point.

I will not say which Holden dealer that was, this was one guy, I know they are mostly good guys out there ... it was my bad day hitting the wrong one

maybe it is the module at fault then ?

just a thought - on my Prado the trailer ECU is powered by a separate power wire , which runs up to the main fuse box and has its own fuse ,if yours is similar maybe the fuse is open circuit or missing?

still , the guy should have checked to make sure it was working , its only takes a minute and saves a lot of work later on.

I would have asked him if you were in the 'service' dept. I then would have asked for the service manager. That kind of attitude shits me.

Thanks ... I seemed to have missed this ... I will most definitely check this out, me being me and also looking for short cuts, does anyone know where I need to look to find the main fuse panel/s - under the driver's dash or front passenger dash or under the bonnet is where I will start ... if not I will then do the RFM thing

The car is at another specialist tonight and tomorrow getting J Pipes installed, hopefully to kill off some drone that has been annoying me

Once it is back I will report on findings on both...

Ok I have tracked these fuses down ... there is a 40 amp and a 10 amp involved, both have been tracked down and are in place and neither are blown both tested good with my Ohm meter.

The J pipes have one in and they have almost completely removed the drone, please see my other thread specifically on this.

Hopefully this week the installer of the Tow Bar will be able to get to the bottom of what is wrong with my trailer lights

The problem has been located to a faulty trailer module ! - as it was new and original from Holden it is being replaced under warranty, the car is still with the dealer, at the same time they picked up that the rear spoiler was coming away from the body, a new one is being supplied and fitted also under warranty.

Once I get the car back I will do a quick check with my voltmeter, I am a see er to be a believer, and honestly I need the trailer use in 2 weeks so hopefully all is good and no more mucking around with this

I picked up the car today - checked with my voltmeter and definitely have voltage for indicators lights etc on the trailer pins... weird but a new control module from the factory was faulty... so it seems

All done under warranty, happy days.

BTW the trailer control module was in the RHS rear panel behind boot sidewall material. Fuses and loom connector was in the LHS rear panel just ahead of the battery which also is in the LHS boot area in the Caprices
