Default Sony Bravia KDL-40CX520 Display Problem

I have a problem with my 2011 model Sony Bravia KDL-40CX520. The TV is operating normally except for bursts of fluorescent pink/purple and green at the foot of the screen although the colours can vary depending on what is on the screen. There are no red light error codes flashing from the standby light. When a menu is displayed there is no distortion of the characters. Nor are there any vertical lines.

Not shown here are where characters at the foot of the screen are repeated slightly above. Additionally while switching through channels, any subtitles that appear are still at the foot of the screen when the next channel is reached. They remain for a few seconds until they fade out.

I attach a couple of photos showing the problem and the result of a self diagnosis check. As can be seen there is no T-Con error showing but there is a P_ID_ERR. I understand that this means an LCD Panel error. The question is, does the fault lie with the panel or elsewhere?

    Many thanks for any help.
