Default Telstra premium $149 phone zte a602 is junk.!

Despite blue tick has no phone at 25ks from tower! Can't connect ext. Ant because of fractal metamaterial int antenna! Inductive Conn no work! Only solution is ext uda with inside powered booster & ant. Trouble is only Telstra approved unit can be used legally. $1200! By way, phone is 4gx, I bought because Telstra is cutting back 3g.

You get what you pay for with phones in my opinion.

I doubt any phone will work reliably at 25,km, especially indoors....

I got one of them a couple of months ago, 130 bucks off flea-bay.
It works ok out in western Queensland in areas where service is available, low/poor service areas it's not too bad considering it doesn't have an external antenna port, though it would be a lot better if it had one.
I force it to use the 3G network as 4G is practically useless if not in town out this way.

My. Gripe is you don't, know how these things perform till you. Buy them then if duds you have no come back. My.3g phone. LG $69 was easy to solder int lead to ext monopole ant giving no bar to 3 bar at 25k. Guess I will be looking at what is available now in 4g not Telstra!

So you bought the wrong phone and it's Telstra's fault ?

Perhaps you should have done your research and maybe bought a t84 or similar which does have an external antenna port.......

I have a TLE phone bought when we were forced to change to Digital and it has an external connection which when connected to an external antenna, adds 2 Bars which can mean going from no signal to being able to make one.
That 'Blue Tick' is a pathetic joke and means absolutely nothing as we found when a friend bought a Telstra 'Flip phone' with the so called 'Blue Tick' and we sat in my Kitchen and rang my Home phone, I could ring the Mobile using the Home phone but his would not make or receive a call, saying it was either 'Switched off or out of service range !!!
Even with an external antenna and a tower high and clear all around, I wouldnt hold my breathe trying to connect over 10km's, let alone 25.

Yes blue tick. Means nuffing.Telstra regard this phone as throwaway that is why batt is glued in. Saw product tests on this Fern and t84 tuff max both rated by users as utter Dawgs! I now. Regard this thing as do Telstra! However, making the best of a bad lot , I wound a about 20 turns copper!r wire fitted over int fractal ant at bottom of fer.n with fme Conn to ext monopole ant. Now get 1 to 2 bars. Will never buy Telstra zte ferns e!very again! This fu#$@n tablet changes my words! Pendo 7"!

Regrettably many of these phones are designed to work where the towers are so close they cast a shadow over each other but its when you move out into the 'Boonie's' where the Towers are few that these phones show their true uselessness.

Tom, maybe if you were to water that 'Fern', you might get some value out of it........
