I like windows 10. Once I dumped the tablet style desktop and returned to a classic desktop i found that it performs very well.
I was just reading this morning about windows no longer supporting 7 and 8.1 os versions. I hate ten but it seems now i am going to have to resolve my issues with it since we are being forced into using it ( super unethical ). My windows ten at first started with the updates , 2 to 3 gig updates once or twice a week , this to me just seems crazy is this correct? socondly after turning updates off ( which they went out of their way to make a difficult task. When i go onto my wifi ( which supports 3 laptops , 3 i phones and itv with no issue. However when the windows te laptop goes on the router , everything else on the network gets no bandwidth speed.

Statistically, if you wait long enough, everything will happen!

As long as you have Win7 with SP1 installed you'll still receive updates until January 14, 2020
Also if you are using win8.1 you'll still receive updates until January 10, 2023
Both os are in Extended Support phase.

nesir, or hope Linux is a little more user friendly!
Linux Mint is brilliant. Just ditched 10 a few days back, and, so far, all is well! Even my file shares have stayed put. Under windoze I got sick of having to reset everything after every update.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

I loaded Linux Mandrake back in 2000 and loved it.
Linux booted up in 12 secs!
It was only because a lot of the Windows based programs I needed/used were not written in Linux that I had to abandon it.
I don't believe 18 years later, that is the case anymore.
Oh and nesir the cost is right too, $0.00!

i was barley born when xp arrived
i struggled to go to win 8 when they wanted us to
then they basically raped us with win 10
its ok for the tech savy user, but 95% of the work\fixes i cop lately are crap win 10 pre-installs
so after hours of recovery, reset or watever the F they call it, most are no better
back it up, wipe it, clean install win 8, amazing stuff?
i dont even bother with updates, unless i need 1
isnt that what av & routers are for? unless your in a enterprise enviroment of course

I only recently installed Windows 10, after stuffing around for days trying to get Netflix to show 1080p under Windows 7, with out any luck.
I miss Windows 7, and Aero, Windows 10 is just ugly/boring. You can't remove/delete/rename certain parts of the start menu, instead of making all your changes from control panel, now you have to use both control panel, and the settings app. Why the hell they moved the details pane in file explorer, from the bottom to the right, has me stuffed, what a waste of desktop space. Deleting or moving folders with a lot of files in them is ridiculously slow in Windows 10, Emptying the recycle bin with a single file from c: (SSD) takes about 8-10 seconds, because for some reason Windows 10 feels the need to spin up my mechanical drives.
But Edge lets me watch Netflix in 1080p now.
what about the app? mine just says superhd

What app mate?
As far as I know there is no app for Windows 7, and with Windows 10, Both Edge and the Netflix app will play in 1080p, if you want to see the actual bitrate/resolution that is playing, just stream one of the test patterns .
I remembered a few more annoying things I've found under Windows 10.
The Icon cache is constantly refreshing, at least once a day the Videos folder rebuilds the icon cache.
No thunmbnails for x265 videos.
Auto play is constantly asking me what i want to do when I plug a device in, even though I've manually set it to take no action.
I already mentioned the slow deleting thing, but figure it deserves another mention.
That's deleting the plexmedia folder from a remote system (local network), done the same thing under Windows 7 a few times, was usually done in a couple of minutes.
yeah it can be a pain and some things you have to do as a group policy
even worse if you have the very basic version, although some things work better than in win8 or 8.1 for me
The most user friendly 'Linux' is Mac OS
All flavours of Ubuntu are user friendly, I would say more than Win10 but this depends of course mostly on the user and what they use it for.
What many are not aware of is that Ubuntu based systems(and probably others) are doing their updates the whole time too.
BUT UNLIKE WINDOWS, you will rarely notice them, hence the reason why many might not be aware of them.
There no delays with start up or shut downs or forced reboots, no hogging bandwidth, not waiting for hours after it says: "Update 100% complete",
no changing of settings, no annoyances whatsoever.
Only once it told me that a paticular update will come to effect with the next reboot at my conveniance.
So why does the only OS that you need to pay for, does it's worst and can get away with that?!!
