That does appears to be a legitimate ASUS message. See:
On that thread someone actually submitted data to ASUS and apparently received feedback. Whilst your connection is working I wouldn't waste a lot of time on it.
I have just logged into the router and noticed I have a flashing warning symbol. Clicking on it gives me, "Your DSL line appears to be unstable. We strongly recommend that you submit a feedback form for our analysis."
Any thoughts?
I should add that everything seems to be working as it should - still have MAX Rate in the mid 80kbps.

yes that is part of the setup with the units.
This occurs when to many drop outs occur or to many crc errors
check your dsl log and if it is the case then you will need to adjust your profile
till you find one that is stable.

Played around with the Stability Adjustment - amazing how it affects MAX Rate.
Was 5dB so after the above I settled on 6dB. So far so good.

Mine does it all the time, I just ignore it. This particular modem has a warning almost every time you fart.

in the beginning when i first got it i had issues aswell but after a day
playing with the settings created a profile that was stable and still
had the speed with it.
The only issue i have had of late has been with
ABB itself where they had issues with the POI that services my area
but they have said that its now all sorted and a redundancy is planned
for the end of this yr.
I am at the point of leaving ABB.
It works fine when it works but the outages are frequent. I have access to my neighbours Telstra FTTN wifi, and they do not have the outages that I do.
I probably average 5 outages a day, at times I have no internet for 30 minutes. I did receive an email about some work for the 8th - 9th March so I will see what happens after that.
Hijacking this thread whilst people who are familiar with ASUS, i have rebooted my RT-AC88U. When i get back in i do not get a GUI but instructions to set up internet in Chinese. Can some one give me the sequence in English or suggest a work around. I cannot enter via wifi, only with an ethernet???

Bought it from Deal Extreme or something similar I presume ? Obviously its not the Australian model.
My advice would be to copy and paste the wording in to Google , first google chinese to english translation to find a page for it. Shouldnt be hard, I answer members on here occasionally the same way when they post in a foreign language telling them we are english only.
even though different language the GUI should be the same
so follow the pictures.

Err yeah, err how did you know
But it was a lot cheaper
Seriously, thanks for responding guys, the gui i am getting is even more basic than the gui that fandtm666 has posted (thanks mate) it is at the point of trying to connect back to the ASUS via Ethernet
Did eventually get a response from ASUS Australia which i believe is a surprise, but no help
I like the Bosses suggestion to translate in Google so will try that
Just an aside, ASUS claim not to support Merlin software which i am surprised at, as Merlin's changes are usually included in ASUS software the following edition??
Err, just had a thought, how do i post on google when i have no internet
