Ness D8X IP232
Hi there - I've got a Ness D8X alarm system and would like to be able to remotely activate it etc.
Now I see Ness sells an ethernet module for D8X panels (part Number : K-6002D) that is needed to be able to hook it up to a router.
Do I have to use the Ness one or can i use any generic Ethernet to RS-232 Serial Port Bridge instead?
The Ness branded one seems to go for $145 or so while I see there are generic RS-232 to Ethernet modules going for $30 to $40 - quite a price difference..
Cheers!

Hi Amstel,
You'll need the Ness one, as it has the app configuration built into it. You'll also need a fixed external IP address as the modules IP address will need to be port forwarded in your router.

Ive found the app on IOS very primitive and limited in capability. Any other options remote access out there for the D8x/16x?
Multicom, multipath, permacon or scsi

Inner Range T4000 (Multipath)
Runs over 4G, so you don't need Ethernet (Optional though)
Takes alarms from the panel dialler & sends them either to the Monitoring Station, or direct to the SkyCommand App for Push Notifications
* Disclaimer: I work for Inner Range.
