Default Osram lightify & google home

Wasn't sure what category this belongs to, that's why I put it here.

Thought I might get a little home automation going. So I bought an Osram Lightify RGB LED globe and Lightify Gateway. Yep, just one bulb for starters.
It took ages to get the two setup on the WiFi and working together, but eventually successful.
I then connected it to the google home mini and am able to control it through voice commands as well as the lightify app.

What I want to know is, how do I set it up so that I can control it when I'm away from home ?
After heaps of googling I haven't come across anything about it.

Sorry can't help you with your osram lamp, BUT maybe you might have a look at Ewelink, Smartwelink & Sonoff. Simple & cheap to get fired up, works well with Google Home (or mini). There are plenty of alternative with home automation (Home Assistant) being very popular. This forum does not seem to have much about home automation {or more to the point "home control"}. But with the cost & availability of IoT stuff now it might just take off.

A quick internet search () leads to a number of helpful 'hits'.

The Silvania website at indicates that remote operation is possible by using a "Mobile App downloaded from the Android Google Play or Apple App store".

Yes I've got Google home and Lightify apps, they are both required to set them up.

Loopy, you have stated in your post #1, "What I want to know is, how do I set it up so that I can control it when I'm away from home?".

In my post #3 I referred you to the Silvania website, which clearly states that the App, (the one I referred in my post #3), allows remote control over the internet.

Please re-read all that appears on the page at .

The relevant section on the page is:

LIGHTIFY® - The Connected Future of Light

SYLVANIA LIGHTIFY by OSRAM smart connected lighting products allow you the ability to set any mood to your liking. With a LIGHTIFY Starter Kit and a free download of the LIGHTIFY app, you can change lighting both indoors and outdoors with just a few swipes, whether you’re sitting inside your home or a thousand miles away (as long as you’re connected to the Internet).

Ah ok yeah I missed that, I instead went to click on the video to the right of it which threw me when it just gave an error of video not available.

Anyway I guess that means it's already setup now. All I have to do is try it out.

    Thanks
