    VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE

I need an video editing software program so I can patch together video clips from a home camera video security system for a court presentation

Also can I do mutli camera patching so that the end result shows 2 or 3 cameras simultaneously on the screen at the same time?

    Any suggestion?

i would have a read here

also you do realise that by editing the footage you will make it worthless
in a court case .In my experience when we had to use footage in court and
arbitration we needed to have the un-touched footage and just a notarised
time point that we wanted to highlight

to jma and fandtm666, the whole video footage will be supplied to the court intact, I want to create a "highlights clip" with timestamp intact, if indeed the court wants to go thru the hours in between of the "intact" "unaltered" usb flash that i will provide fine.

I do not want the video editing software to change or add anything just to put clips in a shortened version complete with the time stamps so they can use them for reference while viewing original usb flash xfer from video DVR!

I don't know the American court system, but yes, that's the way to make the evidence admissible in Australian courts.

Providing you produce the original recordings in addition to a condensed version.

As for free software... even Real Video (Realplayer) has a basic editing function included.
