Default Mediastar HDX 9100 boot error

Today the box stuck on "Good bye" so I turned it off using the power switch on the back of the box.

After a short period of time I turned it back only to be greeted with a "Loading R17" message on the box's display. That is as far as it gets.

    Any ideas?
If Australia is a democracy why, then, is voting compulsory?

Update: Finally managed to get it to boot properly.

    1. It seems that setting up a timed recording upsets the box i.e. for some reason the box does not, now after all these years, like the 1 TB drive. After setting up a timed recording using a thumb drive the box closed down correctly.

    2. It also seems that, when that message appears, turning the TV on, from standby, somehow "corrects" the problem i.e. the box then boots properly.

This issue has only manifested itself after I replaced the old Sharp CRT TV fed with composite cables to the LED TV and a HDMI cable.

To say I am totally confused is an understatement.

Rang Mediastar again and after a much fuller discussion of the problem I was told that "Video Signal Type" should be "RGB".

Changed that setting and the box seems to be working as it should. Early days though!

I would be pleased if someone could explain why that setting should affect switch off/on when recording (whether via EPG or instant).
