Based on satellite footprints, no chance of SES7 in Melbourne.

SES9 which is co-located with SES7 at 108.2°E has good signal in Melbourne, but does not carry Cignal TV.

You could contact Cignal TV and check. care@cignal.tv

Below Ku beams covers the Philippines and northern Indonesia. No chance to get it in the southeast of Australia.

If you are up to investing in a 2.3m mesh dish and a receiver with autoroll function you could access the main Philippine channels on

91.5E 138E and I forgot 166E too! so you really need at least a moveable 2.3 M cband setup

thankyou for your replies. i do have a 2.4 meter mesh cband dish myself and i do have tuned it into IS19. i have have the channels scanned and tommorrowmy cousin will bring the box i will try to see if it works on cband or i will try his card in one of my decoders. Would the keys be the same for his smartcard from cignal tv with the philippine channels or as said above is there no hope at all.

From what I can see on Lyngsat, all those C-Band satellites listed above cover Melbourne, but they don't have Cignal TV channels.

It appears that Cignal TV is only available on SES7 Ku Band.

The Philippines channels on IS19 are different to what the OP is asking about (Cignal TV).

i have scanned in my cband dish and have opened up powervu channels on is19 but not all of them using oscam emu on dm800se .

As mtv mentioned in post #3 i may have a chance with SES9 with Ku band

If i really wanted to access additional content from the philippines would i be correct in saying i would need to get a sky direct box with sub on SES9 and or G Sat Direct with sub and box as opposed to cignal on SES7 which is impossible.

Would i have a chance then or should i just stick with what i can get on powervu with is19 cband and give up on ku all together as far as philippines goes.

I noticed if i can access sky direct and G sat direct tv on SES9. most of the channels from cignal tv are covered in these 2 providers together except for a few like hyper etc ....

any additional advice would be appreciated .

    thanking you in advance

The Cignal box will not work on 166e. For that I use a Manhattan Starlight 6900 USB HD stb.

It has option for firmware upgrade by wifi and opens the Powervu channels on 166E and other satellites that have Powervu. It also has the BISS system which can be updated by USB stick.

The cignal tv service doesnt cover Australia, so give up on that idea,

Hence me saying for Philippines channels most of what you are after can be gotten via cband 91.5E 138E and 166E , I forgot you need to add in APstar 7 @ 76.5E as well

You wont get ses9 in Australia either as the beam is no where near us.

According to the SES9 website, some of Australia is covered by its Ku footprint, including Melbourne.

But as mentioned, SES9 doesn't carry the CignalTV channels.

SES7 and SES9 have different footprints and channels.

Unless something's changed and not reflected on the SES website, I'd be more inclined to think the satellite operator (SES) information would be more reliable than what is posted on Lyngsat.
