@enf. You could be right. What's the bet that this muppet will be trying the same thing at the Olympics where it will be played out on a much bigger stage than just the Commonwealth. In fact, Australia has a one-off chance to top the Olympic medal count. True Cricket style, how about we take some of our better male athletes, the ones who are almost but not quite good enough to be likely medal winners, and put them under the knife. Let the Kiwi's have their weight lifting. We could win the majority of the other women's medals, and Australia would be on top of the world! So what if we are cheats and everyone knows it. #### them!

its alot like the Hannah Mouncey and womens AFL fight

Before transitioning to female two years ago, Ms Mouncey represented Australia in men’s handball. Although her testosterone levels are below the International Olympic Committee limit for transgender athletes, she is a muscular 100kg and 190cm tall.

As part of its deliberations, the AFL compared Ms Mouncey’s strength and body mass to other women playing in the AFLW. A source described her test results as “off the charts’.’

The AFL approach is quite a commonsense one. Sounds like the IOC needs to revisit testosterone levels, both as to relevance and quantum, if they are going to continue to accept transgender people in the sport. I do not have a problem with these trans people competing in the competition for their new gender so long as they can do so fairly without any advantage conferred by their previous sex. The AFL was certainly trying to do this, but realistically how could we ever be sure. It's like Shylock's pound of flesh. Whilst those former women competing as men may be free from suspicion, a former man competing as a woman is always going to be suspect, especially if extremely dominant.

It seems to me that the only fair way to do things is to allow former men to compete only against other transgender people or as men. The politically correct need to realise that they are still bound by physical science and the laws of nature.

You could let them all play AFL. Then everyone would be on an equal footing, males, females, TG, even young girls could compete... ;-)

Surprised we haven't had a peep from the usual suspects on this board, although they may have found it a tad hard.

    Name and shame please!!!

Remove all reference to sex in all competitions, If you want to play "bum sniffing" (i.e. rugby) or "cuddling" (Aussie Rules) or any other "up close and personal" sports, that includes tennis and "non contact" sports, then, if you are good enough whether you have a plug or a socket, you can play.

I know exactly what you guys mean, and I couldn't agree more. Being from South Africa, I once again had to witness a certain "local heroin" make an absolute mockery of female athletics.

This is absolutely ridiculous, and I refuse to acknowledge "her" "accomplishments", no matter how much press etc. forces this complete farse down one's throat.

A man's build, body, voice ("she" sounds like Barry White) and athletic ability, but simply sans junk, does not maketh the woman.

Are they saying men who were in an industrial accident or something who lost you know what is suddenly a woman? Absolute rubbish.

I really do hope it happens like you guys have suggested that there is a special category or special games for these individuals. I have absolutely no problem with anyone of these people, but I have a problem with them competing in a category which they clearly should not compete in. This is a complete injustice to any more ordinary female competing in these events.

They should be handing out two gold medals after each race (with places 3 and 4, silver and bronze respectively), and two separate world records should be recorded.

I have a bit of a problem with the Para Olympics and the Invictus Games currently being held here because to be a 'winner', you have to be the 'best of the worst' of that disability which doesnt make sense.

I am definately NOT opposed to these Games being held by any means and by those with disablities competing in any sport they wish to.

There are Rules in every competition and so long as those competing are happy to win or lose using those Rules, then that's all that matters.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

I don't think the Podium is what its about gordon.
No one going to remember the Gold Medal winner of the 2014 Invictus Games in running.
It is just the participation, comradery and determination that is the winner.
The crowd will get behind the person who comes last just as hard as any other.

Just being there is WINNING for these men and women!

Agreed 1000%. I can identify with some of these blokes. One of them was describing his recovery after a chopper crash in which his mates died. The agony he put his loved ones through asking about his mates every day because his head injury did not permit him to remember it. I did it to my wife after my accident. It took many weeks before I could actually remember that my mother had died some 20 years earlier, not to mention some of the other loved ones that I also asked to see. Here I am some 17 years on, and I still have issues.
