Hi the lbn on my mothers dish the top plastic has worn out and brocken
how easy is it to buy another LBN and change it'
does it just plugs in to cable also how do I know what type it is
like 11700 etc

LNB's can be purchased from any satellite store or online, but first you need to know what type to buy.

What type of dish is it for? Foxtel?

Is it a small solid metal dish, or a large mesh dish?

If you're unsure, post some pics of the dish and the LNB.

A new LNB should just be able to replace the existing LNB... same coax connector, but it may need some alignment/adjustment.

We'll cover that once you have the correct one.

it is a small dish on the roof
currently on intelsat 19
used to be on D2 originally
want it to pickup greek station on mysat

If it's a very old LNB it may have a LO frequency of 11300MHz (also known as 11.3GHz).

Later LNB's are mostly 10700MHz (or 10.7GHz)

I'd recommend using a 10700MHz type.

To be sure, you could go into the setup settings on the box to check which LNB frequency it currently is.

If the existing one is 11300 you will need to change the setting to 10700.

If it's a single LNB it will be like one of .

If it's a dual LNB, it will be like one of .

Strong or Sharp are the brands I recommend.

If the new LNB has the cable connection in the same place (usually on the bottom facing down when viewed from the top) mark the bracket and old LNB and install the new one with the same angle (connector position).

This will be close, but you may need some fine adjustment of the 'skew' angle to obtain the best signal.

To do that, you need either to be able to see a signal quality screen, or use a signal meter with a 'quality reading' at the dish when you make very small skew (twisting) adjustments of the LNB to obtain the highest reading.

Which city/town does your mum live in? (That will give a bit of a clue as to the LNB skew setting).

For IS19 in Melbourne, the cable connector on the LNB will be around the 5 o'clock position when viewed from the front of the dish.

The LNB frequency will be somewhere in the setup menu of the decoder (each make/model is different).

If the old LNB is 10700 then you won't need to change any settings.
