Agreed, but like near everyone with a vehicle, we are in reception areas 95% of the time
I have often found i have 3G/4G available to stream my local FM radio station, when using the FM radio via antenna is not an option (no reception)

    Its nice to have options

anyone using dash cam thing as dash cam ?

I'm currently trying to, using the built in app 'DVR' it seem to work though 32GB card was 1/3 full after 1 day maybe 1.5hrs driving - and, I think it just fill up and stops recording?, as far as I've observed?
tried several nifty apps from Play, they all have cute features BUT most only works on phone's built in camera, NOT USB attached camera, damn

'USB camera' from ShenYao on Play seems most promising, trying it now

(for some reason my radio no longer plays on ACC ON, I need to click on it, and, can't find where is the setting to make radio play on ACC on...?)

I got a camera from Eonon but havent fitted it yet, it should loop the recording once full and not just stop.
When i got the camera i tied it on my work PC and it worked so that makes me think that any USB camera with HID support will work.

I'm also using the Eonon dash cam unit, I'll be interested in your findings, when you do.
yes, I was also expecting it to loop, it didn't, might re test now that I'm trying to set it up

the 'USB camera' app looks interesting, has some sort of motion detection to record on motion, etc, in limited testing camera often 'resets' itself, also, I'm testing with free version

bigger issue though, ppl I'm talking on the phone report very noisy phone call, I can't hear any noise in the car, and, the noise is related to some sort of cross talk from camera:
when I shut down camera app, whether DVR app or the other, noise goes away. restart camera app, phone line gets interference, damn

Does anyone have their Eonon Head Unit set up to read out loud their Text messages, Whats App messages, etc

I see its standard in a lot of new vehicles now

I haven't played around much with it yet but that would be a handy feature.

Can any one confirm that there would be minimum of trouble installing this head unit into a Nissan Navara D40, as the old man (me) will be the one installing it in my sons 4 x 4

Yes it will fit with little trouble, the D40 has a std double din radio as factory. So straight in. I would buy a wiring adapter (about 14.00 - 20.00 ) so also plug and play.

    Eonon compatible apps?

I've noticed there are some Apps that just don't appear when searching the Playstore (installed on the Eonon unit) or are greyed out when on your Playstore account using a laptop.

An example would be "racing.com" the Australian horse racing app

I have an old Samsung Tab 8, an older version of racing.com app is installed and works fine.
Full Screen Live TV racing and all the other stuff.

    What is the story here?
Wonder why its not allowed on the Eonon head unit?

Is there a place you can find older .apk's and try side loading them?

Another that does download, but will not work in a proper full screen is "Freeview TV"
Yet once again, this will work on Tablets and Phones alike

It will be from ISO to Nissan. I will also add that if it were i'd buy a unit that has a proper volume dial, although i have steering wheel controls the volume knob is much easier to use then the touch buttons.
I added a 2nd screen to mine that has 2 inputs and will be adding a front facing camera low in the bull bar for off roading so i can see what i'm driving over.

Have to agree with the volume knob
    It is very handy
I couldn't stand a toggle button for that

I like the wheel controls especially since i have mapped them for home, next track and Nav but sometimes reach for the volume knob.
