    Default Eonon Android Car Radios

After installing another 2 of these units in family cars over the holidays
Im more than happy to recommend them to anyone on here

Their support is also fantastic, they answer emails, YouTube comments and forum posts promptly

Here is a new Android 8 unit from Eonon:

    Cameras work really well
You can run 2 cameras at the same time (one a Crash Cam and other Reverse Cam)
Units fit well, operate swiftly, talk with Canbus systems for steering wheel controls and other in-vehicle ECU settings

Always have kits to fit your vehicles custom dash needs
Great for Euro vehicles like BMW etc, units look and feel like OEM, but offer todays technology.

They also have a new unit which is 10" and floats off the dash like the modern cars do today (Merc, CX5, CX7, etc)

ill second that , have had one for 6 odd months now and never had
and issue with it. They also have model specific versions for cars that
have unusual dash fronts as was the case with mine .

I have not tried the crash camera setup as yet but will be getting one of their
theirs to install because with the recording i can add a 500gig
external drive to record to .

I do have a reverse cam setup and works well but i am using a different
cam to their one but being a reverse cam as long as it picks up the reverse
    trigger all is good.

the other thing i like is that being android you can add in your own apps
as well and mine does 3g.

    Forgot to mention
I installed my cheap FM Booster, it resolved the FM fringe reception issues i was having on these Android headunits

Units i've used all have strong WiFi and GPS reception too.
Impressive considering the antenna are just stuffed under dash behind the unit.

As you say 666, really good that you can load any apps, i run many different off-line GPS Apps
Very handy to be able to try each one without costing you a cent

They look great. I see while they don't have DAB built in (each to their own) they sell DAB tuner units designed to plug into these for $55 so all up a very nice price. Need my DAB

I've not look into DAB for 7 years or so, kinda thought it died.
Does it work for you city guys? I don't know single person that uses it or can even receive it around here

FM is hard enough with all the hills and shadowed signal areas

Being these units are essentially an Android Tablet with a 4 Channel Amp and AM/FM receiver, perhaps a USB DAB dongle could work?
Maybe even the dongal with the chipset that lets you listen to "other" frequencies

Found this, not idea how good it works?

Yes and it's great. It is in my work vehicle and I missed it when in my own car. So I upgraded my car stereo. Covers the Perth metro area except for the extremes. While there are plenty of channels not on am or fm it's a godsend if your favourite stations are on am. Totally useless outside city regions though.

I;m comparing Eonon to Pumkin and Joying, hardware wise it's very similar if not identical (same?) hardware,
but, price of Eonon is substantially lower

do you use DAB adapter with yours ? I'm in metro Sydney
how is screen in bright light ?

do you use cell data modem with it ? or tether to cell phone/router?

    Bluetooth hands free good?

with supplied connector, all the connections/harmess works ? I was aiming to use with Toyota Yaris

any other comments or words of encouragement ?
    thanks

No idea about those other brands.
Eonon are very contactable and have a forum and many members.
    That means something to me.

No issues in sunshine for me.

    As for wiring harness.
    20 pin out.
Aeropro have had a harness to suit each vehicle I've done.
You can buy a universal harness too if need be. Done that once.

    Tether from phone

    BT is fine

Plenty of YT videos out there on many models
Not much guess work left after watching them.

Reverse camera is fine, have seen better, might just be my camera

I noticed on xda someone made an improvement to original dba app, by modifying code of original dab app. I guess I'll order the dba unit, and, try the moded app as well

    oceanboy,
Since you got the unit, did you install any Android or system updates? My unit arrived couple days ago, but, no one was home, hope to get it tomorrow.
I hope GPS antenna can sit below dash..? Don't want to clutter dash if don't have to.
If I plug in DAB unit, and, dashcam, that will take both USBs, can I plug in a USB hub thing, to gain additional USB ports?
I guess once I have the unit hopefully I can figure it out. Thanks again, V

Yes, all my GPS antennas just sit behind the unit, under the dash. Accuracy and Speed is fast!
Dash Cam has its own input, you don't take a USB for that
No i didn't upgrade anything... Why? It works just fine as it is. Just add your Apps and away you go.

My unit, because it is older, will only take a 32Gb USB Drive or Micro SD card (Max Size)
It will not accept portable hard drive

Some of the newer models will
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

thanks for all the help! collected unit today, picked up aeropro main iso/toyota plug set, as I had 30 minutes to spare hooked up that whilst outside supercheap, bingo, got it working, well, partially, couldn't find antenna converter plug to suit toyota rectangular mini circular antenna, but, just for now pushed some insulated copper wire, powered up, can pickup am/fm

tried supplied usb dashcam, it says it needs storage mounted, need to get sd card i guess, but, cam worked
havent had time to try dab, seems i'll need to stick dab antena on window somwhere
gps antenna under dash worked well

dumb question, speakers hooked up from the main combined power/speakers, what is the plug with RCAs on it, is that in parallel with main plug, to use either one or another ? or is that for some fancy audio setup?

tehered mobile, couldn't connect to google??? for whatver reason with voda sim, didn't want to route (maybe voda doesn't allow tethering..?) switched to telstra sim, no issues, signed up OK
gmaps on not so high screen is a real pita, with all the bumff menus crap taking up limited real estate

will try to hook up proper antenna and maybe dab unit/antenna tomorrow, thanks for all pointers!!
phone tethered OK, will try some calls tomorrow, haven't hooked ext mike yet
once that done i need to figure out the steering wheel/rev cam and other stuff
so far, very happy with the unit.

    thanks, 666

made small progress today: hooked up DAB unit only to find there is NO DAB app installed, used to be, hmmm, factory reset yesterday must've wiped DAB app off...?

also, the on device manual got wiped, icon is there but no longer works, says 'no data', I guess reset wiped it also

no fear, DAB packet had a Eonon URL for apk download, downloaded, installed, scan channels, all good, try to play, app crashed, tried again, crashed. Power cycled radio, no go, app kept crashing, disappointed...

noticed later original apk was on device in 'OEM' folder, installed that apk, bingo, get radio

downloaded alternative DAB apk from XDA, seems heaps better, has station logos, other stuff, apparently also worked better

Question re DAB antenna: Eonon DAB antena is stick on glass film, one end has copper tape, instructions say to stick/connect to ground, EXCEPT there is no accessible chasis ground point near windscreen... how important is that ? should I connect a wire to ground and run to the copper end to ground that ? to give it a ground plane....?

still can't tether to Voda SIM, maybe my Sharp phone can only tether on SIM1 not SIM2...? not sure.... might try swapping SIMs

still can not find Toyota antenna harness plug to ISO antenna

got rid of superfluous harness plug sets under dash, looks simpler, now just have two plugs with three wires each that need to be plugged into something, must be SWC and maybe reverse ?

if I engage reverse, does the reverse wire goes to ground when gear engaged, is that how it works?

tried dash cam recording, even though most of screen was filled in by dashboard itself (camera lying loose on dash), hmmm, on playback noticed multiple vision break down... maybe my old SD card not fast enough...? not sure, bought a new Sandisk to try

installed TomTom, will also install Sygic as I have both, don't have Navignon

which model did you actually get and what model car are you putting it in
will help with finding the right antenna plug.

as for the reverse camera there should be a trigger wire on the head unit loom which
you need to connect to the rear lamp so when it is activated it will trigger the head unit
to automatically switch to the video of the camera
