Has anyone bought one of these? Any good? They are quite cheap being sub $700.

Is that their BAUHN range ?

    Bought mum a 55".

    Pros:
    - Price
    - Still working after almost a year

    Cons:
    - Needed a firmware update as out of the box it had major video/sound sync issues
    - Very slow and clunky with the menus
    - Sound is terrible

    Leroy,

We bought the 59cm unit of this range for the campervan......very slick picture, but sound as you would expect for this size:

Running it from 12V aux battery in the camper, and stunned to find it drawing just on 1 Amp........bonus!

Can't vouch for the bigger units (seems they only go to 55"), but at the price, might be worth a look?

PS: 4 reviews for the 55" confirm good picture, but crap sound.

Bought our unit at KMart, Wang.

    Leroy,

Probably should qualify my comments a bit.........."crap" sound as in "not enough of it"

Quality is fine when brought out through supplementary sound system.

We have four TVs, from 23" in the camper to 60" in the lounge-room.....all have some type or other of supplementary sound system attached.

Our sound systems range from a $49 K-Mart sound bar, to a pair of JBL Jembe speakers ($48 on fleabay), through to a now-dated but still adequate Panasonic Home Theatre system bought with the 60".

Doubt that you'll find a modern flat-screen with good integral sound these days....those nice slim-line plastic cabinets don't really cut it in the acoustics department.

Just happened to be in BigW and JVC 65" for $799 and other brands similar price. I didn't know they were so cheap now.

I just swapped the old42" Panasonic Plasma in. Better than nussing lol

You get what you pay for, the 55 inch I bought 'X' years seems to be going strong, the Audio is lacking on Foxtel but oddly not on FTA DTV, VAST or a Topfield HD stb (lacking MPEG-4 tuner).
Id 'died' once (lightning I think) but as it was in warranty, I made a claim and local repairman picked it up, fixed and returned.
Being where I am, I didnt think that part of the warranty would apply but it did.
By 'lacking in Audio', on Foxtel the sound seems to 'drop' from one scene to another, wind up the Volume to max and it barely seems any louder.
I have swapped the Foxtel leads around but makes no difference. I have had this SD stb since the big 'Changeover' several years ago and Austar ruled the regions.
