Default Garmin Smart 61 fall of the screen

I have a issue with my heavy Garmin 61 LMTS detaching of the windscreen after one month. Yes I have purchase a NEW suction pad and it the same, One month later it falls of the screen with the sat nav. Just as well its only 2MM of the Dashboard (closer on the right hand side) Yes I was thinking of setting it on the screen whilst touching the dashboard but because it in a angle it not level. Any clues on what to do or any trick that I don't know?

Clean the area of the windscreen where it is mounted with metho & a tissue, do the same to the suction cup, wait till the metho evaporates then attach, it should work better, but sometimes extreme temperature changes will cause the suction to be lost.

It can be frustrating when they fall off, I have been tempted to screw mine onto the top of the dash, lol.
    Cheers, Tiny

I will try that but the trouble is the car is in the garage 99% of the time and out of the sun and rain. The car is a VF 2016 VF Commodore, screen is the new original one. This suction pad is the one that has a lever that you can select to give you a better suction.
let you know in a Month time as it takes about 1 month to dislodge.

Next time you fit it, do it when the windscreen is at it's hottest in the middle of the day.

This happens to almost every suction device.

Larger commercial-type suction mounts seem to hold up (pun intended) better.

From my own experience, after market suction mounts tend to work better than supplied mounts.

Cleaning glass and mounts certainly helps, but all of these types of mounts deteriorate... but one month is a bit ordinary.

Resting the bottom of the device on the dash actually makes it worse, as the tension of the device helps keep the suction.

I've tried that method in the past and it didn't work.

Interesting!! sometime in life something that you think is better actually is worse.
Actually I got another Genuine Garmin Suction Device just in case the first one the original one was a dud but it was the same to the day. It stay there ONE MONTH like the original one. The suction device itself is well made but this time I will refit it and stick the second one next to it just to prove that the weight has a factor in this issue

You can buy them a lot cheaper from China.

    Just one example of many:

I bought several a while ago.

One thing I found was that the swivel ball on the mount was a tad smaller than the original and the GPS would droop down, but a bit of electrical tape added that bit of thickness and grip which solved that problem.

The reason why I have two original ones is I have two Garmin's, one in the New car and one in the Old shopping car that is fitted to the Air Con vent in the middle as I purchased the Vent one separate on ebay. The vent one clamps in the Vent itself.

Today is a warm day so I left the car the screen side facing the Sun, I got some metho out and cleaned everything, let it dry, Fitted on the screen and found out by looking outside towards inward that the suction pad has sections that are not sealed. It like bubble under plastics and it hard to impossible of getting it out. After I fitted it today for the 10 time as I was playing I notice that the sat nav is sitting on the dash. F@#$%^&*K. I left it like that, I like it when its off the dash about 1 to 2MM and now on the right side it sits on the bottom.

I stuck mine back on with some clear silicon under it about 6 mths ago, just do it without the screen so its got time to stick without falling off, mark where you want it with a few bits of tape first cos you wont be re-positioning it if you decide its not quite right in a day or so.

Missed this post, you say glue it with Adhesive clear silicon? Yes you can get Dow Corning RTV 732, I use it all the time and can get it black clear and white.

Mate l just used a bit of roof and gutter, im sure any silicon sealant would do the job, just leave the screen off until cured.
