Default E series Falcon wagon fuel pump seal to tank.

ED wagon fuel pump failed, boughtnew pump from DDI, $36, but needs new seal to tank. But they are around $70! Anyone know of cheaper alternative, or some. goo to coat with that will last? Learnt long ago that silicone no good! Nulon Teflon. Paste was good on cyl hd gaskets . Or do I have to bite the bullet & pay this I think ripoff!

Obviously it has to be resistant to Petrol and fit the shape for a good seal and that's where they get you because no one else makes/supplies (copyright) that part.

Going on the workshop manual for an AU falcon, the pump is suspended from the plate/cover on the top of the tank and sits 'clear' of the bottom of the tank, does yours?.
On the bottom is shown a 'sock' that acts as the filter, there is also an 'O' ring that goes on the top plate/cover to stop leaking from around the pump body.

can you make a gasket from gasket material. Not my idea of fun but it is possible.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Stag sealant will do the job.

Opening side tank, have to siphon fuel out, not helped by antisiphon fill hose, have to remove hose to enter tank. Today I used old seal with aviation form a gasket covered with few layers of threadseal with more form a gasket. Fitted along with new fuel filter(Jefferson Ford $14) . Runs like good one.Form a gasket was last of about 25 years ago bought. Was Stag Ared,Bred, or 20ml tube? Apparently seal is made of viton to resist degradation from fuel. Thanks to all.

Go to a pick a part wrecker, pay $1 to get in and grab a good one from another car.

When you present it to the counter, bet you they tell you dont worry about it, its just a rubber ring.

In a emergency i would cut a new one from a tyre tube.....
