Well, yes and no. I don't think the isolation/"island unto himself" part really describes him anymore. Yes, he polarized a lot of people with his views initially for sure, but I think he's made allies too, useful allies. No two leaders will ever agree fully of course, but I do think he has some backup in the form of Britain/Europe at least. I think a lot of people wished more than anything else that he would act completely reckless and push the nuke buttons and what not, so they could say "We told you so!" and to a certain degree, I think they have been somewhat disappointed.
I mean, yeah, of course, I'm not going to sit here and say X, Y and Z will never happen - a lot can happen still. People respond in various ways under pressure or having to think on their feet.
No doubt, I would definitely agree the world's leaders are being tested like they haven't been tested in a long time. Things are definitely not black and white anymore either, but more grey. Some leaders do find themselves strange bedfellows regarding various things nowadays.
