Default VL Commodore sells for $340,000

Ok, so it was a Walkinshaw that was never registered and only driven 1300ks

But $340,000 for a Holden Commadore.... hardly a muscle car these models
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

it would have had to been registered at some stage otherwise how would it accumulate 1300klm ?

its amazing though some muscle cars are fetching top $$ most try hards are losing big money as " collectibles " are not insurable for anywhere near what the new owners have been paying for them. Im casually looking around for a project car at the moment and have been laughing my head off at a few "barn find " examples ive seen. One bloke paid $20,000 for a bare torana hatchback , prepped in primer and sold as an unfinished project. so anyway he gets it soft blasted and almost 50% of it disappears !! lol. the metal was so thin it barely had its bones left. another bloke does up a HX panelvan , spends almost 60k on it , goes to get it registered and guess what , it was reported stolen in the early 80s!!!

It’s a 30yo car, so that equates to 43km p/year. If it has been to a number of shows or done some track days, ect, where rego isn’t required, it could have easily done 1300km in 30 years without being registered.

I’d more question the legitimacy of the 1300km on the odo...

yep, agree. Also, it could have sported "trade plates" to be moved around. Although, 1300k's on tradeplates is a lot of k's.

Insurance will cover "specialist" collectables for agreed value under certain conditions. The car in my avatar is a factory 350 GTS, and I've restored it back to factory, and my insurance has agreed to insure for what I want, after viewing the car. I have the log books showing where it was purchased and by who. Funny thing was where I bought it (I'm the third owner) from, it was in the outer fringes of the city, many many kilometres from me. Upon looking at the log books, the original purchaser who had it until 2007, lived a 5 minute walk from my current home. Anyway, the agreed value of the car increases each year, only by about $4000, without me having to request it. I'm limited to how often I drive it to keep the premium down, but being on full rego, I do drive it. It has been in 6 car shows since I finished restoring it, and won trophies at 3 of those shows. Anyway, insurance will insure specialist collectibles for agree value, but you will pay the premium.
So I don't fully agree with your comment, and I speak from experience, not from what someone told me. Specialist collectibles will increase in value as the years go by.

We have two monaro's one is a restored HT 2 door 5 Ltr Man which is rare as most were auto's. We have a HQ 2 door 308 man with only 26,000 miles on the clock. Never driven in a wet road, the only thing that need replacing is the Exhaust as it rust from in to out (has Full stainless now) and we have a VF 2016 Storm Commodore that has never been on a wet road also we have a shitter a VR commodore that is driven ever where on any condition. The VR is a great car as I bought 22 years ago as a DEMO and has over 300,000 k on the clock and has been just about everywhere and still has the original engine and auto gearbox. Yes I agree with Keith as the HQ 2 door Monaro cost me in 1971 $3996 with white trim and electric windows and I would say it worth more than $3996.
We also had (sold Now) a 2005 VZ CV8 Z man (fusion colour) bought for $40,500 5 years ago with 9500 k on the clock and we sold it as I have trouble getting into (stiff neck made it hard to drive as it doesn't not have the tech as where the 2016 VF has)and had around 10,800 k on the clock and sold it last year for $43 800 and I think it was sold to cheap as I think I could have sold it over $50. The guy who purchased it (Flew up, hired a car)come from interstate and couldn't wait to open his wallet. The car was sold in one day and I had over 20 people ring me after the first day it was sold

By saying this these car have created a problem (made me paranoid) and that is THEIVES and once I bashed a person over the Head with a large spanner (His mate pissed off) and the Police charge me with excessive force as my spanner is bigger that his nail bar that he used to jimmy the glassed lock door open. Yeah I was inside the house waiting for him. He was 25 years old and I was around 42 at the time. Cost me heaps to get out of this situation and I will do it again if someone trys again. The Police are F>CKED so are the Courts as you cannot protect your property. (better stop as this make my blood boil)

The HT or HG was a 350 that way rated at 300HP 4 bolt mains. Pity they stopped as in 1970 for the HQ they wantered the LT1 350HP Engine for the HQ. Yes one of our family member worked in Management in Pagewood. Still have the QEEE today and I might go out now and start it

Funny, i have heard that exact line from some friends with Muscle Cars at home,
    Banks are offering 3%
They have made 400% on what they own in Australian Muscle Cars and even some collectable VW's

I realise it is a much harder game now...
But it has sure beaten what any banks have been offering if you know what to buy.

It is surprising me that newer cars like the CV8 Monaro are gaining value, they were worth next to nothing 6 years ago

THE CV8Z is different and was numbered. Our one had limited mileage and that a big PLUS. Have a look.

You will find more in the $50K + bracket. Sold ours TOO Frigging CHEAP!!!!!!!!

This is the Beast. I have had it since I was 19 year old. 308 Man dual Exhaust, It has 4 X Electric windows. I sold the car to my Daughter Cheap I said really cheap under the Condition that she MUST KEEP THE CAR GARAGED FOR HER Entire life and the family after that must do the same.
I HATE watching that TURBO Channel when that CAR person "Chasing Classic Cars" Wayne Carina that chases classic cars I HATE when I guy old man DIES and then the WIFE and the KIDS cant wait until they sell his cars, All you have to do is LOOK AT THERE GREEDY EYES!!, their are dribbling and cant waint until they get their money
Only last week I nearly destroyed one of out tv out in our eat room as I become cranky after watching this on different episode on about 10 different situations, enough is enough.

The car (and 49 others) were owned by the D'Alberto brothers who owned 3 Holden dealerships. There were several other cars with very low K's as well, but they didnt get a mention.

The brothers are in their 80's and have closed 2 of the 3 dealerships.

Our CV8Z 2005 model with 10,300 K on the clock was sold to cheap for $ 43,800 and consider the below got $155,000 wellll Gruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur. I possible know the Guy that sold the CV8Z for $155K as I try to buy it years ago for a lot less (had just about noting on the Clock but had private plates on it) and had it advertise for $65K for years on Car Sales but disappeared on sales not long ago. good on him if its him.

    "QUOTE ON THAT LINK"
A HT Monaro 308 picked up $170,000, while a 1970 LC Holden Torana GTR went for $165K. An ‘86 VL Brock Group A went for $155K, and a more modern 2005 VZ Monaro CV8Z took the same.

Have been keeping a eye on LLOYDES AUCTION.

Now the Next Collecting Item is OPPO 203/205 Blu ray Plarers. The Price have jump to double or MORE in the last week.

What a joke, you can buy a sony player that will play everything the oppo will, region free etc/4k etc. for $500 us delivered......

it would be interesting to see the results of a blind test between the two......

What's so good about an oppo? I put a BD player in my server and all it cost me was time. (I extracted it from a dead system)
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
