Plenty of purpose built devices on eBay, even with a USB port output.
Here is one for example
I have a 12V Car Battery and I want to reduce the voltage from 12V to 5V around 2.5 to 5 amps. What can be used for this for a typical car coming off the main car battery? E.g. used for a Raspberry Pi.

If you're after something with high noise immunity - e.g. for use in a car while it is running, I suggest looking at the "UBEC" (Universal Battery Elimination Circuit) devices made for model aircraft enthusiasts.
Here's a quick search:
They're cheap, can cope with lots of electrical noise and are often encased in heat shrink or a small case, so they're not just a bare board. Beware that most can be switched between 5v and 6v. You don't want to try running a Raspberry Pi on 6v!

I have single and bulk units.
I find the bulk unit easier
Then run your own pre made leads from it.

One way is to buy a battery lead with clamps one end and a ciggie lighter socket on the other then use one of a dozen different 'Voltage regulators' plugged into the socket.
Nearly all mobile phones come with a Ciggie Lighter plug as an accessory.
Just check the wattage as some are 500Am , 1 Amp, 1.5Am and 2 Amp capacity.
The only thing I found was some devices take forever to charge on the lower output.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

I found these units handy:
As a lot of the pre made ones had leads that were both too short to route where i needed them, and had a plug end pre fitted which made it impossible to squeeze through a neat hole.
These were handy for in-dash fitment:
