It crashes on my Windows 10 Pro and wind9ows 8.1 machines (32 bit).

I haven't tried running it under Linux.

Yes, for example you'd use it like this from the cmd window: youtube-dl.exe "https://iview.abc.net.au/programs/classic-countdown-extras/LR1601V006S00#"

Works fine for me on Windows 10 make sure you install the required packages.

thing to do is get a list of all available episodes like the old iview napper used to do. and that way you could download episodes they were not currently offering for viewing.

anyone know of anything that will do that?

p.s. just tried that youtube dl thing. It opens a cmd window for a second then goes away. yes, i downloaded/installed the vis c thing.

ah... wait a minute.... i should open the command window myself? I'll try that....

    yep, it is doing it.

need a batch file or something so's it could get them all...

Hi all, please forgive me if I've missed something as I have low vision. I've been trying to download some current affair shows off iView and unlike some of the other chaps on here I've had no luck.

My initial course of action was using the Chrome flash downloader extension, which downloaded files, but where either empty or corrupt.

I then came across this forum and looked into using VSO Downloader, which at first looked promising, it was downloading a number of files, and again as evident by the below progress / status screen it downloaded everything successfully. As per the second screen shot, five mp4 files appeared in the download directory.

    VSO Downloader download progress

    VSO Downloader downloaded mp4s folder

I attempted opening them all with Media Player Classic Home Cinema. The player appeared for around five seconds as it seemed to be trying to open the files, then I received three error messages, the log I've attached to the bottom of this thread.

    Media Player Classic

    Media Player Classic Error 01

I thought then maybe the videos have to be converted out of a raw format, so I downloaded ConvrtXtoVideo Ultimate; when dragging the files into the program files window, I got the following error.

    ConvertXtoVideo Ultimate Error message

Having used get_iplayer to grab BBC material successfully I looked into using youtube-dl, but this also seemed to have bought it's own amount of errors, even when inserting the URL off the given program. However I did notice from an earlier post that they seems to be a show number missing at the URLs end.

    Youtube-dl command prompt and errors

And finally, this may be old news, but when I enquired about this with my video uploading friends from another site, they had passed this message on through email.

"G-DAY iview have completely changed their service, not sure if it can be worked around it at all.
    No more Flash
As announced in March 2018, the ABC iview development team have been working hard to bring HTML5 (DRM) streaming onto the iview website which removes the need for the Adobe Flash Player plugin. This is an upgrade that has required extensive changes to our video processing workflow and delivery pipelines, as well as the website itself. The new website will no longer require you to download, install or allow Flash in order to watch your favourite shows."

and now the media player classic logues.

The ABC has just changed iView from Flash to HTML5, I havent had a look at downloading anything but I doubt it will happen as they also added DRM to it as well.

Yep, Tubedigger is great, I've been using it for years...
Another good thing about it is that it's a one time payment and all updates/upgrades are free.

Used Allavsoft to download a local ABC news segment the other day (that I was in). Didn't work originally, as I was trying to use the url of the actual video page. When I used the url of the selection page before the video, it would bring up all the found video links, which would then download working .mp4 files.
