Default Foxtel channel numbering & Programming changes 27 May.

I had to ring Foxtel to chase up the printed guide and there were details of changes to channel numbering and programing.

SkyNews is changing its format from what I read (with difficulty).

Foxtel? Holy shit is that thing still going?
Did you find an old gold card and realise it was still active?

    All explained at >>

~40 channels changing numbers to group them better??

    Why is this happening?
It just makes sense for us to keep similar genre channels grouped together, for ease of navigation. And yes, if you're a number puncher you may end up on showcase instead of BoxSets initially but soon it will become a no-brainer.

Plus, (and this has been a pain-point for several customers) with the majority repositioning, you won’t have your viewing interrupted by an 'upgrade' message if you don’t subscribe to a channel; you'll glide right past it. Now that's a win!

Please Note: Series Links and channel Favourites will remain intact.

Weird, their numbering is a mess if you blind-scan everything is duplicated and all over the place.

Frankly I'll never understand why they waste such a vast amount of transponder space, it must be costing them millions.
It's 2018 people are talking 4k and Foxtel still wastes transponder space broadcasting SD, they should have eliminated all of that forced everybody onto IQ3 and pushed H264 out to everybody, they could even program the iQ3 to downscale HD to SD or disable HDMI.
If they still want to suck and charge people for $10 a month for HD.

They still waste so much money on Irdeto licensing as well to support 10+ year old Austar boxs (Have to wonder how the capacitors on those are still going lol), when the encryption is known to be broken. In the long run they could have saved themselves so much money and provided a much better service if they pushed everything to HD/H264 and NDS only.

Guess that wont fix the more adverts than FTA though, I don't understand how they're getting away with that either.
Foxtel can't make more than 50% of their revenue from adverts and yet...

All that being said I still give them $40 a month of my money so parents can watch sports on their iPads, but whatever. Probably cancel it eventually, be curious to see how this plays out and if it makes things more confusing for my parents lol

One problem with all going to an IQ3 or Mystar is that not all are wired to suit them.
I was only changed over because I had 3 STB's and needed the Electronic Switch for them to function.
My Daughter has just moved and the House their in now only has a single LNB.

I have 2 functioning Titan SD STB's still working away happily, I had to send a 3rd one back mid last year as it refusing to obey the remote.

If they didn't design the boxs so stupidly to begin with it wouldn't have been such an issue, well the boxes are made by PACE and it's not really a hardware thing it's the way they did the firmware I think.

The tuner for each polarity thing still makes no sense to me, I think they can just change that with an OTA firmware update.
Then if a house has a one LNB out all they'd lose is the ability to watch two channels at the same time on different transponders.

The IQ2 has four tuners only three of them function and one is only for on-demand services, such a waste just flat on it's face stupid design.

I don't know why I pay all that money for Foxtel and spend all the time watching adverts.

Yeah, same thing here with our sub-TV. I thought that's why they charge the exorbitant fees in the first place, to avoid advertising.
