Default http to https courtesy of google

I see that google has announced that as of july 2018 web browsers like chrome and firefox will warn users using http sites that it is a insecure connection. At first i thought this is a scam to get us all to buy ssl certificates, ive read many long articles on going to https and prepared myself for doing so only to find google intervened and made the changes practically effortless. The search engine now looks for a https version first regardless of re directs. Now i Really though nice one the one thing that discourages webmasters to buy a ssl you have gotten rid of. After buying a comodo ssl certificate i see that my web host now auto applies https lets encrypt free on all new websites i develop lol. So much for my theory.

Never heard of em... i think the free ones are lets encrypt i saw it on some other websites all off a sudden asked the webmasters if they had done anything and they said nope, they weren't even aware of what was happening lol. Like i said i got myself a comodo certificate just before i realised all of this, however i hear lots of talk that not all ssl certificates are equal... i wonder how your free zuver stacks up against lets encrypt, i dont really know much of what makes a good ssl certificate for a website.
