Hi all,
I've upgraded my speakers in the car, from stock 5x7" to some alpine ones. Wanted to add more bass without a subwoofer. I noticed that the bass around the 100Mhz range and mid range sounds softer than the stock ones. Is that because the stock ones are less power handling and more responsive to the power input? Anyone have the same problem?
Thanks in advance

Quality car speakers need to be driven properly with a correctly rated quality amplifier for them to work as they are designed.
I think he means 100Hz

Hmmm i use to have some really good powerfull systems when i was younger.
The speakers were judged on magnet weight and rms power.
The speakers should be bolted in well and solidly.
I use to run a 7 band graphic equaliser with built in amp (200watt rms) minimum to drive them.
The 7 bands give you total sound control.
Bass?
The car use to shake.
Today i have hearing problems.
Lots of gear now days are rated Peak-Peak power. With the dynamic range of digital sound being so large you can make some outlandish claims when working with pk-pk power. Have a look at some computer speakers , about the size & weight of an empty tissue box and rated at 200W.
I played in rock bands for many years & just a 100W RMS amp up full will hurt at 10 metres.
I love the pmpo rating
2000Watts PMPO, is really about 20 or so watts.
lmao
