Negative, these are tetra radios and operate in the 700-900mhz frequency range.

Even if it were possible to OOB them that far, they'd be particularly useless as the driving gear isn't tuned to the lower frequencies.

As above, they are digital trunking (TETRA) radios.

Won't work at all for UHF CB.

Usually they have a low power output so you wouldn’t be able to use full power on the portables.

You need the special version of them:
the 440-470 MHz modell - it is hard to find.

And you need Tetra CPS Lab to expand the working range to 477 MHz.
    The MTH-800 and the MTP 850 have 1W (class 4) output power, the MTP-850S 1,8W (class 3L).
If you have DMO repeter (Motorola MTM5400 or 5500), proper base antenna, good QTH, low loss cable you can get pretty good range and stable communication.
    The only problem is:
I think for 48$ you can only get the battery for this very special units.
Tetra is very very expensive and complicated.

Also, they will NOT do analog. I don't think that 20-25 kHz digital is allowed on UHF CB.

There is quantities of surplus 450-470mhz band split Motorola Tetra radios about in the market locally and assumed to have come from a large construction project somewhere that has wound up recently.

There is also large quantities of ATEX rated 800mhz Motorola Tetra radios about as well, the bulk of which appear to have been from a Bechtel system that has been shutdown, assuming another gas project.

450mhz TETRA systems are about in the coal fields of NSW as well Glencore, Xstrata, BHP and Whitehaven all running system with mixture of Sepura and Motorola subscriber units.

    As you've been told 1watt / DMO only / 25khz / Digital ....... not a hobby toy.

The description is the seller's ad is somewhat misleading.

"You can get them reprogrammed to use a walkie talkies"

    Undisclosed statement: "illegally, that is"

I mean, who even is the ACMA?
