    Default I hate 'Downsizing'.....

Today we have been 'Downsizing' items I have had sitting around taking up space and I HATE doing it.
Among the detritus were some 24 Austar Remote Controls I bought at an auction ages ago along with other items from an installer who had closed up shop.
I sold off enough to get my purchase price back leaving the rest in case I needed one or three.
That need will vanish in the next few day when I get a replacement STB (pace probably) as the last Austar box has DIED............and those remotes wont work on the later STB's.
Numerous other now junk are a couple of Computer HD's, my dead Navman ($900 worth) GME Electrophone UHF CB.
So far this disposal has increased my usable area by about a metre square.
Of course the biggest bit to go is ME but not just yet, I hope.......
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

You have no idea how much 'junk' I can store on 1sqm .
Everything you mentioned there would have been stored ON TOP of that dead Austar box. So I would have gained maybe 0.04 sqm.

LOL....... I can picture it. All I need for reinforcement is to peer into my own garage. Double with no room for cars.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

as we get older we forget we have something and buy
a new one or we hoard things saying you never know i
    may need it one day.

well i have a garage with no car in it and its full - 5 x 5 shed full
spare room wardrobes full and now just laid some ply in the ceiling above the
garage for a storage area as well.

wife said thats it start cleaning up or i will and now im worried about going away
because she will get the skips in

A square metre... come on, that's nothing. I can easily fill 20 acres.

Some years ago my Sons and friends got the cleaning bug and wanted to clean out the shed we had at the time which had 'stuff' stuffed everywhere, mostly on top of itself on the floor.
The boys asked me what I did want to keep and said 'If its on the floor, it goes OUT the Door'.
This bothered them somewhat but I explained that it was on the floor buried under whatever and as such, I didnt know I had it or had used it in recent times so 'Chuck IT'.
I think they got a good three 7 X 8 trailer loads during the clean out.

I did the same when moving 5 years ago Small skip filled to the height limit but it was over weight old car parts and a shite load of VCR's CRT TV/monitors , OE car audio systems. It's surprising how quick it collects. I'm sure some of the VCR's must have been breeding as there was more than i could remember.
