Hi Folks
I'm trying to track down the 8 Pin plug to mate a CIGweld 200 TIG welder to make my own foot pedal. Seems to me its a 5k POT WITH A MICROSWITCH, i'm not paying $400 for that :-)
I've trawled the Amphenol website and Digikey, cant seem to find it. Anyone have a clue ?

I am guessing the body of the foot control is fairly robust to withstand lots of heavy duty usage but does it have to have that connection?
Unless you plan to plug and unplug every other day, why not just have a strip connector inside to connect the 'workings with the lead?
To me that plug located where it is would cop a lot of hefty kicks and stomping on as its never where you need it to be.
I would also relocate the cable out the back rather than on the side, mock one up and see what you think.
Just thought, does that control cable have an Amphenole connector on BOTH ends?
Even so I would eliminate the connector on the pedal end.

The problem is of course, you need to get the right size plug, pin number, pin style/size, pin arrangement, and keyway arrangement. Maybe easier to replace the socket and plug with a complete unit.

petez69, how did you go with getting a plug? I am in a similar situation, I can't justify spending $400 on a foot pedal when I can get a generic one for $50-80 and just the correct plug on the end.
Got the same welder. I made a foot pedal with a sewing machine pedal, the Amp part number you are looking for is 206434-1 - from memory the outer shell is separate.

I had some equipment that took proprietry Plugs and leads. They cost a bomb and were nothing more than junk Chinese quality that didn't last 5 Minutes.
Opened the unit up and sa there were just 4 wires. I got a standard type 4 Pin connector, replaced the proprietry one and made my own leads up with Heavy duty type wire and the matching plugs.
Connectors are just to join wires so there is no reason you cannot replace them if you can re wire the connections either end.
All these over the top weirdo connectors are just a way to screw you for higher profits.
Thanks everyone for the prior posts in this thread... I recently bought a CIGWeld Weldskill 205 ACDC to learn to weld Stick and TIG and have been trying to sort a cheaper foot pedal since the genuine article is now ~$450+ and most other brands are ~$200..
The amphenol part numbers helped and I've got them on order. The only extra bit I ordered as I think I need it are the little connector pins - so the one other part number I ordered was Amphenol 66570-3 (loose solder pins). I ordered ~10 cause they were cheap but I only need five for the pedal (2 for on/off, 3 for the potentiometer to control amperage).

Thanks again for the clue that saved me ~$250! I plan to buy a cheaper other brand pedal and adapt the connector and if needs be replace the adjustable pot as the CIGweld machines need a 5kohm pot as I understand it..
