Friggin just got arse raped after i spent $2.50 on a lined bag that i can stow in the back of the ute so its there when i go into the shops in the future.

Used it to hold 4 platters of cut meat dog food which leaked blood into the bag, then i noticed that the milk container had sat in spilled milk in the fridge and had also stained the bag.

One can only imagine the smell after a few days, and the lack of hygiene.

Might need to tear the handle off each bag as i use them and take them back for a refund/exchange each time i return to shop for more shopping.......

So is there any chance that we go back to plastic bags again?

The whole thing is pretty funny

Australia (25 Million people) ban single use plastic bags

All of Asia and India (6.1 Billion people) use plastic bags just to sell a drink in, then throw it on the ground and no one cares.

    Therein lies the stupidity....

Can be applied to all sorts of issues, Co2 emissions being just one.

Yay the Greens and their voters!

Over the years have accumulated a few cotton shopping bags all with shoulder straps which are better for heavier loads. Leave one in each of my vehicles so they are there for when I go shopping.
Now and then run them through the washing machine so they clean.

Don't know what all the fuss is about, from what I am seeing at supermarkets is people are now bringing in their own shopping bags of various sorts.

I don't bother. Here in the ACT most people seem to just accept the bags as a 15¢ bin liner.....they are pretty big compared to the old ones.

As I said earlier, I am still going through a large collection of disposables.

Maybe if they worked on a plastic bag deposit scheme like the container deposit scheme. You pay 15c and then return the back to a recycling centre to get your 15c back....
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

With only shopping when I need stuff I have been using a back pack for the last 10 years it works for me as it hold a basket full of what ever I get as long as the check out operator is reasonably good at Tetris. I don't use the self serve as the weight of the backpack upsets the system and have to wait for the operator to reset the scales plus using a checkout operator keeps some one employed.

Most of the checkout persons at the local supermarket know me and don't even ask if i need a bag.

It's also easier to slip the backpack on and take the chook-chaser to the shops and park on the foot path than driving the car.

I also vote for the biodegradable type bags but the big supermarket chains won't make any money from them.

    That's my rant for today

Coles takes away plastic bags and now are giving out.... plastic toys.

I just saw a TV ad at 10:30pm for them. Obviously targeted at children.

Just what I needed, some small plastic bananas for my collection.
