Even if this was still current, I cant see myself asking some 'Off their Face' kidnapper, 'Mate, me phones going flat, d'you mind me asking SIRI to recharge it?'

Also this would only work (maybe) if only a few know doing this would be a call for help but it wouldnt take long for it to become common knowledge for even those bent on being naughty.

I only just saw the headline, and did not read beyond the first couple of lines, Just thought it amusing that asking siri to charge your phone would call the cops. I was not aware that Siri was capable of taking your phone out of your pocket and placing it on the charging dock, or plugging it in, yet. The command, in, and of, itself is nonsensical, calling the cops on top of that is downright stupid!

Once again, artificial intelligence is no match for real stupidity.

I first wondered how SIRI could 'Charge' a Mobile then I had the thought that it wasnt POWER you were asking SIRI to charge but CREDIT !!!!
My current service has Unlimited Calls/SMS but DATA is limited so there is the option to add more Data by paying an additional fee.

Gordon SIRI is just trying to dial the number requested.
    Further down the article:
Update July 16th, 9:10AM ET: Readers have pointed out that Siri might just be reacting to the instruction "phone" followed by any number. The command "Siri, charge my phone 911 percent" also dials the emergency services, while using other percentages (e.g. "Siri, charge my phone 560 percent") simply result in Siri trying to call that number.
    Cheers, Tiny

Yes Tiny, I read the whole post and understand that to ask SIRI to carry out this directives is the same as directly calling the Police or whoever.
I am guessing after reading the quote, you select what/who you wish to call (Police etc) when SIRI receives an innocuous command like 'No Red hot chilies on my Banana sandwiches please'............

If you (like many) have Siri constantly spying listening to you, then finally we have a winner.

Even a cough could get it to call emergency. Just has to call *cough* without saying the word "Dial"
You could train it to (for you) an unsual type of cough and practice it well.

...and if the phone is in your back pocket, maybe loud flatulance will do and even be less suspicious. You always need a backup plan.
I don't think many need much training for that.

Its not real AI anyway. True AI hasn't been invented yet.

None of this datamining shit is AI.

True AI would be software that writes/programs ITSELF and then feels good about it and gets addicted to doing more good. It needs some kind of emulated dopamine.
The problem is the definition of 'good'.
