Unfortunately genetics cannot be controlled
Been having chest pains. Got it checked out and I have major heart problems. Trying to avoid open heart surgery but I may be too far gone to stent.
I don't get it. Don't smoke, don't drink, normal weight, blood pressure controlled, exercise, not diabetic. Thanks for nothing healthy living!

not good mate but atleast you have been smart enough to
go and get checked so you are ahead of the game.

Damn genes. Mum died of heart disease.
How am I supposed to run that Marathon when I get to 100 now?
Good luck with the treatment you choose Learjet
Just be sure to NEVER wholly trust what the vets tells you, always get a second opinion, then make up your own mind
Sorry to hear that mate. Best of luck.

Shit mate, that's not good.
Cardiac surgery is pretty successful these days, so don't give up hope.
I've known several people to survive with serious heart conditions.
Keep us informed... best of luck, mate.

Another thing I don't get is how the first miacardial infusion scan missed it 2 years ago. I had chest pain then but that one came back normal. The last stress test was weird too. I had no trouble on the treadmill. No pain at all but the ECG was showing lack of oxygen to the heart. Since then I've got worse rapidly. Really severe pain comes on doing nothing now. Been to ER which is a madhouse. Has a simple angiogram which shows quite a lot of multiple problems. One artery is 80-90% blocked. And that one may not take a stent. But we shall see.
In the meantime I hope this nitro spray keeps on working.

I have had some respiratory problems and of course, the heart is always a prime suspect when that happens BUT except for the fact I cant blow the candles out on a cake, tests have shown my heart is alright.
Yes I did smoke, like a bloody chimney but quit 36 years ago, grossly over weight (Morbidly Obese) and I get the odd twitch and twinge all around the chest and left arm (HEART ATTACK).
I was using ventolin about a 100 times a day until I damn near overdosed myself on a nebuliser but havent been near it for several weeks.
Old age isnt for the faint hearted and health has a nasty way of biting you in the bum and there's stuff all you can do about it.
Do what you need to do and enjoy your time while you can.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Good luck mate.
I had a triple bypass 9 years ago and I'm fine - the operation sounds more scary than it actually is.
If you have multiple blockages especially of they include the LAD (the widowmaker) you'll more than likely need the op.
If you want to know anything about the surgery drop me a PM.
Thanks all. Yeah Whiteox I have a big LAD problem.
wow and you're not that old! Hope all goes well.

I know several people that " are living on Borrowed time" .
they have been for years! Mates Dad had MAJOR heart surgery 40 years ago. just turned 80 and does everything and anything he wants and a lot more than many 80 Yo's.
My uncle is coming up to 80 and been telling everyone for 25 Years he could go any tick of the clock but that clock has outlasted a lot of others in the family younger than him.
Another Uncle went for a check up before a great round australia caravan trip, about their 12th I think. Doc says heart isn't good, sends him to a specialist that afternoon, specialist says I can do you last thing this afternoon so uncle front up to hospital, they put Stents in and Aunt drives him home and a week later they are off on holidays. Reckons he never felt better.
I get worried when people are too healthy.
Lost my father in law when he had nothing at all wrong with him. He was reasonable health concious and his weight, cholesterol and everything else was spot on which he was proud of.
Next thing he's in a coma and Died 8 months later of cancer. My father is not perfectly health and I'm glad. Means he gets kept a closer eye on than if everything was fine.
I'm the most gutless coward out there when it comes to medical things but I'm also a realist and I have known people with heart problems that come out better in many ways from treatment. they watch their weight, what they eat, exercise and stave off a whole bunch of other things because they get closer attention.
Follow what they tell you and you'll be fine. they have practiced on a lot of people and tend to know what they are doing. Minor ailments can get very sketchy treatment. The big problems seem to be a lot better perfected.

Chin up mate, hope all goes well for you, but fark ya healthy living program, I'm fat, lazy, smoke like a chimney drink gallons of piss, eat my fair share of shit food, If I listened to the doctor I would have been dead years ago, Got a mate that owns his own health shop where I live, he didnt look real flash when I seen him a couple weeks ago, always does the fitness crap not a bloke I thought would end up with kidney stones, I offered to train him to live my life style
Thanks all for the comments. I have massive lung capacity Gordon. I think a few years of running helped and have never smoked. Through all this I've never felt short of breath. But the chest pain has been severe. I took my biggest attack in the doctors office. Got wheeled out by ambulance.
Therein lies your problem.
and then beer:The Framingham Heart Study [15] reported a 59% lower risk of HF among men who consumed 8 to 14 drinks per week compared with abstainers
Many years ago the surgeon who cut my father open and removed all his guts so he could examine the spots that where growing under his backbone, told him after he was sown back together again, to drink 2 bottles of beer a day !
...which he did.
He never had the slightest issues with his heart but died 30 years later on a sudden brain haemorrhage that was accredited to his heavy smoking.
My mother stopped drinking beer and died on a heart weakness (according to the doctor) 5 years later.
I drink my 2 bottles a day !
...and NEVER binge.
You are lucky that it has been identified and chances of a long life in a fairly normal lifestyle are very high with the treatment options we have today.
You are not rooted

Hi learjet,
These days the technology involved with medicines is pretty damn good.
With private insurance you should be able to get some good cardiologists. I hope you don't have to rely on the public health system though otherwise you will probably be waiting for certain tests?
Unfortunately medical appointments with specialists are steep in cost even with private health cover but it is your life!
Good luck with your health. As previous posts have said you will be able to get treatment. Thank goodness we are not living in the fiftees or the sixtees!
Regards.
David.
