Thumbs up Help with my Dish alignment Optus D2.

    Hi Folks,
Been a time since I have asked a question here.
Was working nights so never had much day time exposure.
Anyway, I have moved to the Newcastle Area. Tarro actually.
I have a problem now and hope I can find a fellow that might be able to assist me
    For a fee of course.
I have had the dish moved to a new location on my roof don't want to have Foxtel
So I was thinking why not align this to the Optus D2 Satellite and wash New Zealand Programs
I have the paperwork but I can't climb ladders anymore as I'm in my 70s.
    Dam old age.
I have a Mediastar box which I used to watch programs on in Ourimbah.

Now the request is there someone out there in the Newcastle area that could set the dish and the bos so I can watch NZ programs
Willing to pay for your time.
I have tried to get commercial installers but they just don't want to do it.
Any help and assistance very much appreciated.
This is the information im quoting from.

    Thread moved here.

Before you go to the trouble of dish alignment, are you sure you can receive NZ channels from Optus D2?

    Which NZ channels/transponders/frequencies etc?

Were these channels received by you on the Mediastar box?

How long since you received them? (channels sometimes move to different satellites).

I notice many years ago, you were installing a T90 multi-LNB dish. Is this the same dish you want aligned now, or is it a single LNB 'Foxtel' dish?

    Hi MTV.
No to the question about T90.
This is a standard Foxtel dish was on the house when I brought it
All I have done is connected the Mediastar STB when I came here
I have a paper that says that you can watch FTA programs from Optus D2.
I can scan this and sent it to you if that helps.
Just trying to use the dish and the box for other than Foxtel if I can

Yes, probably D1, but the problem there is the NZ freeview channels will likely only be on the NZ beam.

I doubt they'll be receivable in Australia. Someone correct this if it's wrong.

Yes mannaoz , there's a lot of free channels on D2, but from what I can see, doesn't have any NZ channels, mostly religious programming.

Your link is for the IS19 footprint.

I don't see NZ Freeview channels listed on IS19.

    Yes, very outdated.

The Lyngsat link I posted in #5 is mostly up to date with what's available from D2.

If he wants to watch "NZ programs" on either D1 or D2 he's probably going to have a great deal of trouble getting somebody to help him do that.

To the best of my knowledge there are no "NZ programs" on D2, and those that are on D1 , as MTV correctly states, are on the NZB beam, which is aimed fairly and squarely at New Zealand.

The 50dbW reading you quote is for the NANZ beam which carries only a couple of feeds according to Lyngsat.

If the thread is "digressing", I would suggest it is for good reason.....not much point trying to rustle up someone to help the OP with the impossible.

    And...........?

Did you happen to notice the dates of the entries on Satbeams?

Most of the information pertaining to the anz beam was submitted between 2009 and 2011.

There's also an entry there for 12645V that detailed new links for the 2012 London Olympics.

You will find that we've moved on since then.

Conversely, most of the entries for D1 on Lyngsat date in the period 2016-2018.

Unfortunately, there is now very little available in Australia on the Ku band, other than a tsunami of religious channels on D2 as noted by MTV.

D2 used to have some interesting international news services on it, but they are regrettably long gone.

The only satellite (at the moment) that provides any decent English language international services on the Ku band is Intelsat 19....there you can get Russia Today, Euronews, and France 24.

But you will need at least a 60cm dish (more likely 90cm) and all those services are DVB-S2, which requires a receiver capable of processing that type of signal.

Don't know if your Mediastar receiver is capable in that regard, but there are plenty of reasonably-priced receivers available that can receive DVB-S2.

We watch the IS19 channels I mentioned on a daily basis.....their news services are very good, and make watching the local offering a painful experience.

They also provide some excellent documentaries, and very incisive Business programs.

Worth the effort if you're into that sort of thing.

If the Mediastar has HDMI output it'll do DVB S2
