Default Drone World Records - Right here in Melbourne

Went to the footy with these lads Sat night
Pretty cool to see what a bunch of boozy AFL followers can do with Drones, leading the world and travelling the world using them in Construction, Industry and countless TV commercials.

Some larger drones are conceived, designed and made right here in Melbourne for a specific task.

Nice to see a small team of Aussies taking on the world

BTW, that Drone pulls 36Kw when flying... What an insane ask from the Batteries

oo often Aussie Entrepreneurs are held back by an industry with little vision. Tall Poppy syndrome, if you will, it is good to see some blokes making a go of it! Well done to them!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

I was reading about these guys more than a year ago.

What caught my eye was what they were doing with their CNC machine, after i had purchased mine and i was chasing new ideas.

From memory i think they made one of the biggest drones that was used (or rented, i cant remember) by Hollywood film makers.

Good on em for leading the way....

Watching that 'Aussie Gold Hunters' on Foxtel last night and one of the prospectors was using a drone to both survey his lease as well as scan for unwanted 'visitors' who have been doing a bit of Midnight Detecting recently.
Run it up about 200 metres (500 feet) and do a 360 and if you see any lights where they shouldnt be, then you go have a 'few words' to encourage them to VACATE.
One lease holder has taken to driving stakes into the access tracks (Warning signs on the boundaries) as a deterrent.

Yep, just about anything i mentioned, they had done or had a contract with.

    Merc Tv Ads
    Wind Farm blade inspections
    Tourism Australia TV ads
    Hollywood movies
Contracts in Thailand, South Korea, you name it

When i mentioned a few drones id seen, he just laughed and said... "No mate, we build our own drones inhouse"
Then pulled out his phone and started showing me some of their creations!
    BIG UNITS!

Just all great to hear it was happening right in a small factory in Eastern Melbourne

Not sure if you saw the shark tank recently but there were 4 young guys that were very cagey about their core biz, drones. They got some contract to sell to some asian country's army or something. One of the guys is my old boss's son. Reckons he will be worth zillions.

I would imagine one of the biggest sellers with a drone is not only how much it can carry but having the power source to do so and give the longest possible flying time.
Be useless having something that can lift a tonne in weight and can rise up 50 metres only to have it come down because its run out of energy.

    That happens with every drone
    They all suffer diminishing returns

IE: As range is increased, the weight gain then impedes any range gain or lift gain

Like they said about a mousetrap, build a better one (powerplant) and they will beat a path to your door.

Several Guys On YT now making drones they get on and fly as personal aircraft.
They are still a drone to me because they fly them with a radio control with no wires or controls on the craft itself. Some of them have 32 motors.

Pretty amazing the weight the things can lift. Spose the next thing will be seeing is Micro jet powered examples. Either direct or driving a generator to power the electric motors like a train.
Jet would over come the limitations with height and prop speed.

I was at the beach last year and there was a guy flying a better production model. Think he said it was worth about $2.5K.
Loads a fresh battery in the thing and then flys it out 3KM to a ship anchored off shore. Does a couple of rounds and we can see some of the crew waving to it on his monitor. Hits a button and the thing flys back while I'm standing there talking to him without him doing a thing.

From what he said that was pretty standard sort of capability but I was impressed. Other thing blew me away was his wife and son were walking along the beach. He targeted them on the screen and the thing followed them at a set height doing slow circles. The footage looked like something from a movie. The kid is going to have some awesome Vids of himself as he grows up that's for sure!
