Toto's Sunnyboy win was as low as it could get in Sochi.

He was already 40 championship points ahead Vettel and if he were REALLY serious about it not feeling right, why didn't he just give the place back to Bottas in the end without waiting for any 'team order'? I originally thought that was the intention.

If Bottas the wins next time it will be sooooo fake.

So sick of this 'last on grid penalty' now for only changing engine parts or going back to an old engine. What is the point of all these senseless rules ....just lose more F1 fans?

yeh I don't think team orders were necessary either.

Penalties are too harsh for engine swaps.

I think he has just gone the money option now, like Alonso.
He wont be getting any podiums with his new team, just there to go round and round

IDK, the car shut down, so not necessarily mechanical? Just an electronics malfunction, maybe?

His drive next year may be totally different with the new "19 Renault power plant, different team, project managers, mechanics etc.
Who knows? but yes he has looked after his bank balance for the future, for sure.

Aside from that, was a good race, Max drove very smart as Kimi did.
    Cheers, Tiny

Wouldn't have happened if he drove this:

    Who needs and engine?

The Renault team didn't have nearly the engine related DNFs Ricciardo had.
At least Ricciardo can sleep well resting assured he did the right decision.
Better a slower car but finishing the race maybe with a couple of points than these continuous Redbull disasters ...and then enjoying the $$$.

    Vestappen v Ocon

Ok, who do you think was at fault?

Personally, I think Vestappen didn't give racing room and turned into another car.
All he needed to do was go wider or wait for one corner.....

I know Ocon should have slowed for sec to let Vestappen pass, but is that racing? No matter what position?

It's interesting when you consider Ocon is a Merc employee of sorts ;-)
    Nice game play perhaps

I thought that Max would have had blue flag priority over a lapped driver & expect clear passage, however they are saying that a lapped driver is allowed to unlap himself. But does that mean he has the right to aggressively fight to unlap himself with the race leader??
He got a time penalty, so the stewards think he was on the top end of the blame, but a time penalty which didn't effect his position in the race, so f'ing what.
Kind of a conflict in rules.

Though I think Lewis summed it up best in the cool down room when he said to Max, "you had a lot more to lose in that exchange than he did.'

That said; if it was Lewis in Max's position he would of cried foul for sure, yes!!

It was actually quite a good race for F1, more of them please.
