    Default Problem locating a plug

Been trying to find the plug that suits this socket.

Rang RS but they can't help. Strange that they don't have the mating part for something they sell.

Can you replace the socket to one that is more readily available?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Its odd that the right angle connector doesnt have the same pin configuration IN and OUT.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

    I'll check it out tomorrow.

Don't know really but I think trying to search for a socket by its footprint would be very hard.
I did think of soldering wires to the board and using a totally different connector but the space is pretty tight to fit something else in there.
Think I'd rather go for the right plug if I can get it.

From what I worked out, the part number describes P as plug and pin.
eg. KPPX-4P : The second P is plug, the last P is pin.
----KPJX-4S : The J is jack, the S is socket.

You could also try Wes Components.....

    ...and Farnell.

Yep forgot about WES and bang on there.
They list the exact one I'm after as DPP4 and only $3.

    Excellent!

Make a list of the various suppliers and bookmark their Url's under a suitable heading so that it is readily available next time you require components.

One needs to be methodical about such things.

    Yep done that.
I've got one coming from Jaycar. I rang their head office to find out about its current carrying capacity but they had no idea.
Ended up ring another store 80Ks away and they had one in stock, so measured it for me. You see, Jaycar had it listed as s-video but that seems to be wrong because the pins are thicker and the shield is 10mm which ties in with what I'm after. I think s-video is more like 12mm or something and the pins are prob around 1mm. Also s-video pins are spaced further apart.
Looks like I'm on a winner, anyway I'll see when it turns up.

    The plug arrived today.
Never seen a plug with so many parts. Had to download instructions for assembly
