Hi Guys, WIN has added Sky News Channel to their WA bouquet. It comes up as channel 85.

Firstly I did not see Hos had posted his info the VAST Forum so I jumped to thinking this was for Terrestrial Digital TV in WA !!
When it sunk into my head I had stuffed up and I deleted my post, I had 2 questions, One is would they consider opening SkyNews in the Eastern section and TWO is they cant because I dont think WIN holds any broadcast licenses on VAST do they and as we already have those 'News Channels' (400~420) the West doesnt have, might pose a problem?
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
Sky News made an agreement with WIN, so I doubt we'll see their channel on any East bouquets unless they do a deal directly with SCA or Imparja. The regional news channels in the 400's have nothing to do with it.
Smacca, badly put but what I sort of meant was those who support the 'News Channels' may not be happy to see SkyNews made available for the Eastern States UNLESS it was one of them doing it?
I am thinking that 'they' may think having SkyNews might 'pull away' viewers who watch it from going over to 'Their' channel when the News is over?

I don't think that would be the case at all. The VAST Regional News service isn't really in the same category as a typical commercial service. It's more of a government-backed aggregator of bulletins that's impartial to commercial interests.
Even if it was the case, WIN has the most bulletins on it, so it would be the 'major stakeholder' would it not? Why would it block having Sky News available?
There's really no more to it. WIN isn't on VAST East, so Sky News won't be either. Unless they shake hands with Imparja or SCA.
