I'm gobsmacked that this woman was handed a two-year suspended sentence for having sex with students
Whilst the 'victims' might have nothing to complain about I can just imagine the social media outrage if the offender was male and the students female, at least a ten year sentence IMHO, along with weekly pieces over the next month telling readers how a sex crazed MAN ruined said students lives

Absolutely right alphaone, double standards at its greatest, anybody remember ex-cricket umpire Steve Randall?
Now I am in no way trying to defend Steve Randall here, and I know the kids he fiddled with were a bit younger, on the other hand he didn’t actually have intercourse with any of them as this women did, I am just trying to highlight the gulf in double standards, a guy fiddles with young girls, maximum penalty 21 years Gaol ( he didn’t receive that, but that’s the max) where as the poor woman who banged the boys, gets a 2 year suspended sentence because she has already been “Thorougly disgraced”.... I guess Steve Randall wasn’t sufficiently “disgraced” for what he did. Double Standards, Double Standards, Double Standards.

The age of consent is 16. Or has that changed ?
If the report is correct, her only crime was with the 15 Year old.
Any misconduct is a matter for the School and nothing to do with the courts.
Same applies to males in this scenario.
No not so clear cut, for Tassie and SA age of consent is 17, she had sex with 5 boys aged between 15 and 18 years old, then it’s a crime, or is one or two okay? Only when it’s starting to be a few too many it becomes a crime?

The sentence would be "Gay-man-spared-jail-for-sleeping-with-teenage-students"
none of those pathetic excuses would be listened to if a male acted the same towards female students. double standards all right.
and here she is trying to blame the school for duty of care failings!! dur hallo you are staff , you represent the school !
The consent age in NSW remains at 16, but there are exceptions. One is that a person in a position of authority, such as a school teacher, cannot have intercourse with a person under their care, who is under 18.
Depending what news article you read, either all students were under 18, or all but one were under 18.
As pointed out by many, if the roles had been reversed I would suspect a sentence greater than 2 years suspended would have applied. But it’s not guaranteed.
There was a male PE teacher in NSW who was found not guilty in 2017 for the same offence (although none under 16). In another recent case, a female teacher was jailed for 15 months for having sex with 16 and 17yo male students, and in another, a bisexual teacher was jailed for 11 years for sex with both male and female 17yo students.

Am i the only one, that when a story like this hits the news, the first thing i think is where were those teachers in my day!!!!!
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
question ???? how many "students"were lined up awaiting there for their first one and rubbing their hands in anticipation ? right or wrong dont really come into testosterone fueled youths
Woman today in court are treated differently compared to a man in court even in child Sex cases. That you boy that died (forgot the name of the child) where the guy at Cabooture was sentenced for 10 years (with a ZEALOT Jury, what a waste of time just hang him)and the girl with him has still not had her trial is now awarded a JUDGE ONLY TRIAL. The solicitor I know he tell me when with a high profile Barrister during a Child sex case that 40% of men would be found not guilty if they had a judge only trial and by this you can see the quality of the Jurors today when you mention child sex.
Again anything that involve a child under 18 (not 16) it called a runaway trial because when a person (mainly male) is charge with offense nothing will stop it and you will be found gulity and sent to jail.
All child sex case should be Judge only trials full stop
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

Bahahahaah, what an excuse! The woman's barrister told the NSW District Court that she had been under duress at the time of the offences because of the threat that the students would report her if she stopped having sex with them.
And to think she would have had a "Working with Children" check and all.
Working with them alright.... and all night

Not commenting on the rights or wrongs of the sentencing but more the crap journalism surrounding this.
alpha0ne's link says 'woman spared jail' but makes no mention of the fact she had already spent 14 months in jail awaiting trial (which was mentioned in enf's link)
Yes the first article was misleading/bad reporting (as is 90% of ALL so called news these days)
To be honest I'm a little shocked that Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnston even gets a mention regarding the lenient sentence, regardless of the 14 months already served, I would have expected the ABC feminazi's to have buried the fact ppl think the sentence was too lenient
Sounds like the woman's mother is enabling her. The girl "did the crime" it's up to the courts to ensure that she "does the time". The DPP should appeal the lenient sentence, but, I also agree that a jury may not be the best means of determining guilt or innocence in these cases. The woman's mother told the court the school "had not taken correct responsibility" but admitted her daughter made a "horrendous error of judgement".
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
