I have an admission to make here -- I also went to the dark side and bought a Jeep But my Jeep is a real Jeep , was built in Brisbane in 1958 and ive spent the last 6 months restoring it from the bare bones upwards. Every new part imagineable is available cheap as chips on Ebay from places like India , Phillipines , Brazil and Turkey.
I do get the addiction of driving an alternative vehicle like a Wrangler etc , its just a damn shame that Fiat Chrysler dont support their own products very well in Oz , and parts prices are horrendous. I think in the USA they would be a much better buy due to the aftermarket support available.

Be careful , I tell you its a religion , soon they will have rehab for jeepaholics you may be one now and not know it , sound like you are well on the way to me and you cant escape it , you need help just ask and landrover enthusiastic then theres the toyo ,nissan, mitsub , clans as well . If you fall into the 4x4 clubhands your fvked and theres no hope of recovery . Its worse than cancer . the only thing that can save you is a stroke or a serious heart attack . You thought that alcoholics are bad jeep-a-holics can wipe out your bank acct faster than you can wipe your rse .Dont say I didnt warn you vroomvroom

I'll put up some piccies of the jeep once its reassembled , its just a pile of panels on the shed floor at present. Thanks OB but the only VW i will ever own is a small Kombi plastic model which acts a bluetooth speaker. Uncle Fester its amazing you posted up that VW picture i saw a few of them when i was in Bali buying Jeep parts last week. I think they are a rental car over there.
Any further updates on the Jeep porkop?
Considering vehicles are once again in the news in Australia
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
Still got it, havent had any issues, except the washer motor filter blocked up. Removed it, cleaned it, working again.
Ive added a bull bar, tow hitch, rhino rack platform (low profile, love it), rear door steps for accessing the roof rack, rear taillight protectors and a LED bar on the front.
Attached the Icom IC706 and a Codan 9350 auto tune antenna.
All in all I am still as happy with it as the day I bought it.
I am amazed of the fuel consumption for a heavy car that is not particularity aerodynamic. I am still getting over 500k/tank just around the burbs and well over 700 on a country/freeway run.
A stone chipped the windscreen early on, which I havent fixed yet, its ok, I know a cop!!!

How good is that
Nice to see actual owners personsl accounts, don't represent what you hear on social media or the gossip mill, about these vehicles sending them broke with repairs.
Or what John Cadogan might have to say about them....
700km of Hwy driving... What size tank is it?
That seems great for a 4litre petrol engine

good stuff. there is a large aftermarket following for the later model Jeeps as well as the older versions. take a look at a FB page called Australian Jeep parts buy and sell. My neighbour owns one now and ive been helping him tinker with it a bit.
As far as wrecking yards go ,the market is cornered by 3 related Jeep specialist yards on the east coast. And they are a bunch of gouging scumbags I tell you. things like used driveshafts sell for $500!! We got a new one from Mexico for $130 freight included! So look overseas for parts before sourcing from the local clowns if you have the time.
