    Default Loking for opinions......

    Hello,

    I am considering changing cars.

I have my eyes out for a Jeep Wrangler 4door hardtop.

Wont be new but at least 2010 to 2015 model.

Id like to know pros and cons.

    thanks

As much as Jeeps have a reputation, i really like the JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON or SPORT
They look cool as when done right.
Very capable off road, heaps of flex, a guy i know took his short wheel base 4.0L Petrol Jeep across the Simpson Desert, no problems at all
(not that you would expect any)

Not sure if you can get them in diesel?
I know you can with the Jeep Cherokee

Up to 2014 there were a lot of problems, on Whirlpool people are saying they are now problem free, remember practice makes perfect
Go to the Jeep forums and am sure you will get good feed back
Pity you aint got a few more bucks to throw at a new car as the Everest run out prices are amazing at the mo'

    Funny about "what people say".....
People say how good a Toyota Landcruiser is, yet i can reel off a dozen Amateur Hour moments with it.
People say older BMW's are a nightmare, stay away, yet we have an older one and its been faultless. Apart from a small battery drain, that was a faulty ignition switch.

The internet has all the info you need these days, every common fault has been spoken about and resolved or at least diagnosed.
Third Party components made to strengthen or resolve weak points

Do enough reading prior and you can make a pretty informed choice.

I also think people throw a wide blanket of the Jeep range, when it is probably a particular range that caused all the bad press.

Pretty hard to buy a Lemon if its already done 120,000ks

+1 to what OB said , and i would join a Jeep forum to see what issues people have been having and how much money to repair is required. I like them to drive they have loads of power and are a popular choice for caravan rigs. My only concern with them is lack of dealer support outside metro areas , and the further out you go its down to Mitsubishi or Toyota only.
things do change over time - Toyota were real good till 2015 now the latest models have been giving a lot of trouble. My Prado has been back quite a few times for various issues and hopefully once all these things are fixed its smooth sailing. Would i buy another one ? Yes they are still one of the best out there

Some people use this theory when purchasing a secondhand Land Rover Discovery 3, but those vehicles never stop giving you pain!
At 120,000ks they are likely to have auto trans failure

So as much a having a certain amount of k's on a car generally means most common issues have been dealt with by then...
    Some have more to give

Like others have suggested, a day or two on the Jeep Forums would have you up to speed with models to avoid and things to look for.
Not sure what your intentions are for the vehicle (daily driver or touring vehicle or both) but they have a massive range of after market parts available!
Probably more than any vehicle ever!

i like the wrangler rubicon, with the 3.6 v6 petrol....

front and rear diff locks + 4:1 low range and a manual transfer case....

also has brake assist diff system, brakes the spinning wheel so other wheel with traction gets the power. Disengages when diffs are locked...

My Daughter has a Jeep and like most makers, some parts to replace cost more than what the vehicle is worth but you have no choice as the part is specific to the vehicle.

If you choose to use a dealer, well.... thats your own fault
There are also places where parts for the Jeep and a lot cheaper than above, a LOT cheaper.

Have you ever asked a person their opinion of something?

    I rest my case!

The old adage of 'Two Heads are Better then One' applies to just about everything and seeking others opinions may highlite features you may have missed, good or bad.

The point is your not obliged to take notice of others but I think its silly to ignore those opinions out of hand.
