While I am sure everyone has their 'Dead Cert' winner, but after some 30 years of watching them slip, slither and skid all over the Mount in all but Snow Storm conditions,I would rather guess which of 2 raindrops runs down a window the fastest.
With that rain on Friday, it looked like it was going to be up to who ever could keep from skidding and crashing to the bright sunny conditions of today which convinced a few to 'Push the Envelope' somewhat to kiss the walls and plow across the sand traps.
Depending on how the weather goes tomorrow, if its rain it will be mayhem, fine it will be as usual one Hell of a good Race.......

Would you believe in the early days, the area covered by Orange/Dubbo CBN8, CWN6 which is Bathurst, was 'blacked out' and wasnt allowed to see the Race live?

I THINK the Foot Ball Grand Finals, both NRL and ARL had something to do with the changing dates as one year there were a couple of major events on at the same time and it seriously affected the crowd numbers as it was too costly to attend both which wasnt possible anyway due to distance between them.

There are only so many spectators and Dollars to spend and too many on too often and the Hip Pocket gets hurt.

7,500 camping at Mount Panorama at an average fee of $350 per site is around $2 plus Million in Fees alone plus each Camper must have a 3 Day Ticket at $175 each.
One report says a 190,000 have passed through the Gates during the three days but I am not sure if that also includes the 7,500 camping on site.

The Bathurst 1000 is a HUGE money for Bathurst.

EDIT: Great to see ex race drivers being the TV Interviewer, and knowing when to give devastated race drivers like Reynolds the space they need when they just get out of a race car.

I have watched that race since I was a kid.
So many times the outcome has been something that if it were a movie you'd say it was too far fetched to be creditable. If you predicted the outcome at the start of the race people would thing you were nuts but you can sit there and watch it unfold.

Still amazing given it is still unpredictable given how UNcompetitive it is now. It's still good to watch but I lost real interest in it when all they turned it into was a different body shell and engine running round with everything else the same. How can you call a car this brand or that when they are running the same chassis, trans axle and a bunch of other components that none of them have anything like in the models they are supposed to be based on? they all have to weigh the same and have the same aero, tyres.... May as well pick a certain car and they all run the same thing because they have made it as close to that as they possibly can anyway.

Cheering on a brand now is really pointless as they are all running 90% the same components and you can't even get the bit of the brand the are running. No such thing as a V8 Commodore and Falcons haven't been available for 12 months.
All a bit TOO commercialised for me and frankly, the basis of it to me seems a bit insulting. It's exactly the same as watching wrestling, it's all just a put on to make money as entertainment and advertising rather than having anything to do with the the merits of the product or even development like it used to be. Once upon a time someone would have an edge and even if it wasn't the brand you supported, at least that was a challenge and motivation for them to improve. Now.... they are all using the same regulated parts.

Yeah, I sat there all day and watched it as I always have, but there is none of the excitement there used to be nor the sense of loyalty for brand or drivers. Not for me anyway thinking back to how it used to be. Sure was always regulated and a bit of a put on but now.... Ho hum.

That said, nice to see Lowndes go out on a High Especially given his mentoring and relationship with one of the true legends when it was real racing, Brock.

Well, it hasn't been known as or called Touring Cars for years now.... its V8 Supercars!
Nothing to do with Ford v Holden or any other brand really, i think it died when they removed other cars that were beating the local product!
Ford Sierra, Nissan Skyline... just flogged them!

Just like drag cars, they are all spaceframes now.
Chassis rail cars died off years ago.

Even the TCM boys are full blown race cars with fibreglass panels.

It is a contest between drivers and teams now, which i like
If it was make vs make, it would be like F1 with the same 2 winners week after week

They lost me when they went Group A last century. I much preferred the road cars with few mods. It was then a race of skill and the cars were made to be street legal.
