The Bosch 2000/3000 is the current model and has more support going forward for an IP module and app control. The icon keypad is fine or go the touchscreen. I don't use the text keypad.
After our old home alarm system (from the early '90s) carked it recently, we are probably going to replace it with one of the above systems. Is there much difference between the 880 series and the 2000/3000 series as far as features go, or are they pretty much the same?
Which keypad would you suggest? The "icon" keypad, or the "text" keypad.
Ideally all we need is an 8 (or 16) zone wired system, with possibly mobile phone or sms notification when the alarm is triggered. And not too expensive.
I've also considered the Ness d8x/d16x systems as well, but after much reading have all but discounted them because of the issues written about them. Although I do like their "navigator" screen, but has way too many features for our small and old place.
Any ideas or preferences greatly appreciated.
Regards

Thank you for that. 2000/3000 and icon pad it is then. Cheers
One more question please.
If I was going to upgrade the standard PIRs (is it even necessary), should I go for the tritechs (ISC-BDL2-W12G) or the quads (ISC-BPQ2-W12)??
We don't have pets these days, so we don't need the pet units.
Cheers
The standard pir's are good, for most installations. Tritechs are more for installs with pets or locations like garage/workshops.

On the 3000 board, is there an output, or somewhere that goes high when the system is armed? Also, will some kind person please tell me what the two circled connectors are? Thanks.
Not sure on the circled connectors. Possibly 1 might be for the GPRS communicator.
Outputs - you can use the ones on the bottom of the board or relay. Depending on what you require, these can be programmed to suit.
You can also get an 8 output expansion module. B308

Thank you for taking the time to reply, secure. All sorted and running great. I ended up reprogramming output 2 and using that.

Thanks downunderdan. I meant should I upgrade the standard (not the old originals that we had) bosch bluelines to the upper models.
Thanks for the tip. Cheers.
Does the 2000 panel have 8 fully program zones with NO fixed zone inputs?
Yes Sol 2000 8 zones, fully programmable zone types. But no wireless zones.
thanks for the info
One more question with the strobe output, can I setup the output to work as a strobe when the system goes into alarm but also make that output to strobe once only when the system is armed/disarmed?
If your using remotes then there is an option for this.
If you want the strobe to flash from using the keypad then it's more involved. But I think it can be done with programming, but may need extra outputs to do this. So may need an 8 output board.
thanks
