Could it be your power steering pulsing ??
G'day all, the saga continues.
Took the Mazda to the mechanic he's changed the CV joints and drive shafts, engine mounts and wheel bearings with not much improvement.
I'm at my whits end . What's a bloke do now?
Dash.
Could it be your power steering pulsing ??
Don't know .
Now the vibration is happening under load but not in neutral or coasting, even at 100 KPH

Ahhh finally some more information to narrow it down. So its not a suspension, chassis vibration. You could have saved a lot of $ if you could have diagnosed this first.
Does it vary with engine rpm or with road speed?
An engine vibration? Balancer (as mentioned by Hoe or tagg) clutch/torque converter out of balance or balooned, transmission input shaft damaged or worn, engine missfire (injector or spark).
The list goes on.
Start with injectors and spark. Does the engine sound unhealthy under hard load, rougher? Could be running on 3.5 cylinders.
Check your spark plugs, remove them and read them.
When removing them, number them so you know which cylinder they come from.
Look at the colour of the electrodes, one may be different to the others.
If your unsure post some close up pics of the tips so one of us here can read them for you.
Also exactly what model is it, is it with a distributor, coil or coil packs, efi or carb etc. It would help to diagnose things.
Edit a freind had a similar problem that could not be diagnosed, i got an old ignition lead and replaced the original lead with it, took it for a drive to test, then returned and did the next one and so on till i found a lead with a slight crack. Enough to run the engine on but would drop a cylinder under load.
mandc, he already mentioned the engine mounts were replaced.
Did your mechanic check the shock absorbers?
Is the vibration felt in the whole car or in the steering wheel? I think tagg asked this earlier but it would help out trying to identify the problem.
Check if your wheelnuts are all tightened.
Put it on a dyno and get the electrics analyzed .
If you drive it up to 100 KPH the vibration comes in the front of the car,but if you slip it into neutral the vibration stops, even coasting down a steep incline at any speed under load it shakes but take your foot off the accelerator its stops shaking

with the front up on a jack and the engine running in drive it shakes ,chock the right wheel and there 's a little vibration in drive, chock the left wheel and the whole wheel and car shakes violently so it does appear to be coming from the drivers side drive train.

Sounds like fwd diff slap. The drive on fwd goes through one wheel in a single spinner diff.
Locking it forces the drive through the pinion gears through to the other side.
If its a viscous diff or a locker (LSD) this would be normal as its detecting one wheel spinning and transfering drive to the other. It will kick like a mule, very dangerous thing to be doing, it could take off and kill someone or write off the car.
If it isnt and its therefore a single spinner, you have a problem with the pinion gears seizing.

FYI.
Vibration finally gone,it turns out the re manufactured driver side drive shaft was faulty not allowing sufficient movement in the inner plunge joint ??????
expensive exercise!
Dash.
Good to hear you finally found what it was mate
yeah but $800 poorer!
