Ha ha, it always pays out not to be a sheep
Using DuckDuckGo is also recommended:
I have noticed in the past that after viewing an item or service for a certain time period a pop up occurs with a cheaper deal. If you do not respond immediately you do not get it back but after clearing browser history it will eventually appear again.

Another method.
I find that if I use Chrome for an airline, travel or car-hire website, then open the same site in another browser (Edge/Firefox), you can input discount codes into one browser and compare between the two if there is a difference in price.
This ensures the cookie one browser creates on your computer, is not read by another browser, so it believes both browsers are completely different computers.

i found an iPad doesn't seem to show the same discounts as a PC. Learnt this years ago when I couldn't find the same deal on the iPad and went back to the PC and found it.
