Default Android 4.4.4 - Remove Gmail App?

I have a MTCC headunit in my car (Eonon)
I would like to just remove the Gmail App, but obviously keep my Google Account running for YouTube, Apps and other syncing

Can i use ES Explorer (with Root privileges) to just delete the Gmail App?

    Example:

    System/App
Data/App (And remove anything relation to Gmail)

Then reboot the unit without conflicts?

I really just want to remove Gmail from my car headunit, but keep all other Google services running.

    Default Solved

    Well, if anyone is interested

I removed the Gmail App from system/apps
And have rebooted the unit 3 times with no issues
Gmail has been removed and all other Goggle Services have remained working

However, the next time the unit is connected to the internet, Google Services "may" want to download and reinstall Gmail....
    Hopefully it doesnt

It may just secretly do that in the backgroud, worth a check.

Don't really want my work emails popping up in the car
It was also very annoying that "bing" noise everytime you turned the unit on
Gave anyone in the car access to my email account.
I would have my phone with me, so really no need to also have them on the Car Stereo

It has been useful for emailing Apps or Settings or App Data to my Headunit directly.
But outside that, waste of time having it run on your Headunit

I guess the scary part is, the car could be stolen and someone just downloads Gmail and has access to all my stuff, as the Google Account would be still logged in
Hopefully i can deactivate that via Google Devices though

    Yeah, mine had that
But i really like having YouTube linked and a few other things

Making a Full Back up of the MTCC unit now

    Removing Gmail was simple
I'll post if the app comes back without me asking

Can it be uninstalled from the google play?

Also, if you ever do a factory reset or update firmware it will probably come back. On my head unit the app is part of the firmware and I can't simply remove it - it is kind of protected.

Just had the MTCC unit connected to the internet
And while Auto Update on other Apps started, Gmail didn't come back
I also turned off Auto Update, once the first few started.

Now, if anyone knows a fool proof way to make a complete Back Up, i'd be grateful.

Thinking of using TWRP Manager with (ROOT)
Can i back up to SD card or for Recovery, does it need to be the Internal Flash Memory?

    I have not tried yet.

ES Explorer with ROOT, will remove it
I never even thought to use Google Play, but as you say, because it is part of the ROM, i doubt uninstall will be an option
