Default Both Optus 10 & Horiz 3e on the move

Hi Guys, I see Optus 10 has moved from 154E back east to nearly 156E ! Is it to co-locate with C1/D3 ? And Horiz 3e has been at the 164 slot for over a week. Has Optus relinquished its 164 slot to Intelsat ? Any news.

    Cheers

These two birds have stopped moving. Optus 10 now at 156 E and Horiz 3e at 164 E. Suggest scan those slots.

    Cheers

Could it be Foxtel is going to introduce extra 4k channels and needs the extra capacity of Optus 10 to share out the 'load'?

    Hi Guys

Any update on the status of Optus 10 ?
I hear its now Co-Located with C1/D3 which might explain why a few of have lost our C1 VAST services in lil ol NZ.
I haven't seen any Publication of status or plans for Optus C1/10.

    Anyone know anything ?.

    Cheers:

    If C1 lives between 12250 & 12750 ; D3 lives between 11750 & 12250. where does Optus 10 live?

I think Optus 10 is intended to eventually replace the ageing C1.

This document has a lot of general info about Optus 10.

Optus D3 and Optus 10 both have wideband capabilities from 11.700 - 12.750. It’s just at this time D3 are only utaliziing the lower band portion.

I don’t have the transponder and footprint layout for each sat with me ATM, but it will be interesting to compare. There may be some fringe reception areas they will loose the service after switchover.

The Optus website has some good info on the stats technical specs if you have the time or interested in knowing more.

Optus C1 life expectancy from launch in 2003 was 15 years plus another 5 in inclined orbit. So that all adds up to replacement in 2018, guess what year this is ? YES 2018.

    UPDATE

Optus website has now updated Optus 10 info to show 156e location footprints.

It seemed like only yesterday that I was receiving Austar on Optus B3. I must be getting old.
